The 2006 NWR Awards

Wii - Game of the Year

by Steven Rodriguez - January 1, 2007, 9:05 pm EST

Nintendo World Report highlights the best of the year that was.

And of course, the winner of the NWR Award for Best Wii Game of 2006 is...

Without question, there is no better game available on the Wii. Just about everyone got it with their console, and for good reason. Twilight Princess is the ultimate Zelda game, taking all the good from previous adventures, then adding in a story with twists and turns, along with many other new surprises. It will take most people at least forty hours to get to the end, and that's not even saying the other stuff you can do after finishing the game for the first time.

The game's secrets will make you want to come back for more, even after there is no more to come back to. Heart pieces, golden bugs, poes and rupee grottoes are all scattered about Hyrule, waiting for you to find them. There's no better feeling than mounting Epona and taking your time galloping around the world, doing whatever you please. No Wii game can match what Twilight Princess brings to the table, which is why it was our only choice for best Wii game of 2006.

With that, we're done handing out regular game awards, although we've got one final word to say about Zelda. You'll hear about that at the end of the show, but there are some other things to attend to before getting there.
