The 2006 NWR Awards

Best Import Game

by Steven Rodriguez - January 1, 2007, 8:14 pm EST

Nintendo World Report highlights the best of the year that was.

Most people will tell you that Japan gets all the good games. Many are only released there, never to be seen by English-speakers. Thankfully, importing games isn't very difficult (though pricey). The NWR Award for Best Import Game goes to the Japanese game that is the most worth bringing over to America.

Best Import Game

The NWR Award

Rhythm Heaven Game Boy Advance

With the Game Boy Advance library in America looking a little thin, the best place to go to find new games is Japan. One such game was a music title from the creators of Wario Ware. Right away, we all knew that was a winning combination, and sure enough Rhythm Heaven turned out to be one terrific game. It's perfect for importing, since music is the international language. Oh, and you can play games from any region on your GBA. That helps, too.

Runner-up: The bit Generations Games: Dotstream, Boundish, Dialhex, Digidrive, Soundvoyager, Orbital and Coloris Game Boy Advance

The seven games in the GBA bit Generations series set out to prove that gameplay and style are better than fancy graphics or sound. They succeeded on just about every attempt (Boundish is nothing more than a remake of Pong). The neat thing about all the games is that they come in some super-cool shiny-tiny GBA boxes, which make for great collector's items. There's a game or two for everyone in the set, so if you're looking for more GBA love, try them out!
