NWR's 2018 Game Awards

Most Wanted Switch Port

The game we wish would just release on the platform.

Winner: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

There are a lot of opinions circling around out there about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. So for the sake of finding some common ground, let’s go over some difficult to deny truths. Skyward Sword is perhaps the most story driven of any of the games in the Zelda series. The world itself is structured to fit that mold. This brings with it a degree of perceived linear gameplay. But in exchange we get a complex narrative, and the best character development between Link and Zelda of any game in the series. Skyward Sword is ultimately the Link to the Past format followed through to its most extreme conclusion. Yes it lacks open exploration, but that's what the original Zelda and Zelda 2 formulas are for and why we have Breath of the Wild. Skyward Sword is simply a different kind of Zelda game.

But here’s why the great game I just described should come to Switch. Firstly, it is the only 3D console Zelda game that has not yet received an HD or 3D remake. Secondly, because its Van Gogh inspired artwork would look absolutely astounding with the power of an HD console behind it. Finally, while I feel the best way to play Skyward Sword will always be with its excellent motion controls, there are many who struggle to get the hang of this method. A fresh remake could allow the possibility of differing control methods. Perhaps, when locked on, you could use the freed up right analogue stick to control your sword. Of course I’d still hope for motion controls via the Joy-Con, but more options could hopefully allow more people to enjoy this fantastic game.

Very happy you gave Xenoblade 2 Torna some love! The root game didn't get enough love (maybe because they released it in December)

FTFY.
