Best Sports Game

by Michael Cole - May 22, 2006, 6:43 pm EDT

The PGC staff picks its favorites from the year's biggest funfest!

This award goes to the freshest, most fully realized sports game, regardless of Nintendo platform.

PGC's E3 Awards 2006!

Winner: Madden NFL 07

Steven Rodriguez: Passing works great. Kicking works even better. Wii is not just getting a straight port of Madden, it's actually going to get a full-fledged version of the long-running football franchise. Props to EA Canada for putting something great together.

Jonathan Metts: Madden for Wii is the first football game since the original Blitz that I'm actually interested in. The Madden series has always confounded me with several different control schemes depending on who has the ball, and each layout uses every button on the controller. Madden 07 for Wii is much easier and more intuitive to play because you can juke just by snapping the nunchuk to the side, rather than press a controller face button that did something completely different five seconds earlier.

Runner-up: Wii Sports – Tennis
