A busy end of month for everything except the 3DS Virtual Console.

January came in quiet, but it’s going out with a bang. There’s a couple of big retail games on the 3DS with Final Fantasy Explorers, Square’s love letter/hunting action title (see Neal’s review) as well as Lego’s Marvel Avengers for both Wii U and 3DS.

The eShop has an interesting release on the small end with Shadow Puppeteer. The award-winning co-op platformer has you and your shadow trying to navigate and rescue other shadows. On the Virtual Console, a certain wise individual’s prediction comes true as Final Fantasy Tactics Advance comes to the Wii U VC marking SquareEnix’s debut on the service in the West. Are you team #MarcheWasRight or #MarcheIsADick ? Let us know in the Talkback.

Europe is packed this week with Explorers, Mahvel and a whole bunch of eShop titles including POWGI’s Word Puzzles, which has amiibo support for some bizarre reason. Also, they’re technically the first non-Japanese region to get a SquareEnix VC game as they’re picking up Tactics Advance as well. The Avengers also offer something not seen on the Wii U in a while: an actual, honest-to-Arceus season pass from WB. Now, will this one complete or will we have another Batman: Arkham Origins situation?

That sale on Zero Escape has me interested. I remember a discussion from James Jones on RFN a couple years ago that really intrigued me. However, I never played 999. Can anyone tell me if I'd need to play 999 first?

Haven't actually played it myself but the consensus is that you do need to play 999 to fully appreciate Virtue's Last Reward.

ooh, Elliot Quest sale!

Beats the hell out of FFTA. >:/

if it is still on the eshop, try the demo first. You should also be warned that the 3DS version of the game has issues. The demo froze on me twice when I tried it. The full game can also break your save file if you save in certain places.
