They probably could have gone for the 7th, it's not like there's a franchise using that day anymore.
Nintendo is apparently big enough to declare their own holidays.
According to a video released on Nintendo's YouTube channel today, November 1 will be "Pikmin Day" going forward. The video also contained some series announcements:
- A reminder trailer aired for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 (+ Dandori Academy) releasing on November 12. Shorlty after the Direct was posted, a demo for the game was announced for release Monday with the first two stages and save carryover.
- A trailer for a new Pikmin Bloom feature called "Secret Caves" aired, including touchscreen battles against series regular enemies that will be available "this winter".
- The Nintendo Pictures imprint has released a new video series called "Hello, Pikmin" with the first episode available today and a second later in November before episodes release on a monthly basis after that.
