Oh Canada! Several readers up North sent us information on a few retailers selling Cube. Here’s what we got!
”I've pre-ordered my Cube (or secured it,whatever). It's for peeps living in Canada, the name of the store is Compucentre.
- It is sold for $299.99 (Canadian $)
- Controlers are $49.95(Canadian $)
- Games are $69.95 (still Canadian $)
They also said that the prices might go down a little bit as they list the maximum possible.
When you go there to reserve your cube they ask you to take 1 game and an accersorie or 2 games with the cube...so that's pretty fair since everybody will buy at least a game and a controller...you decide which to buy too they don'r force you.You can choose the color of the cube and controller too.
For the store location visit compucentre.com cause there is a bunch of them scattered trough Canada...but personally I got mine in Quebec (place: Rosemère mall)
It is a chain...Canadian pretty much like our Future shop...except they only sell video games and computers and I must add that the service is excellent and that those guys know what they are talking about...and they like the cube ^_^
I don't think there's any sorts of freebies though. Hope that'll help someone get his Cube in due time!”
Futureshop.CA was running a GameCube pre-order package. They have sold out of the Jet Black GameCubes. However, plenty of Indigo GameCubes are still available.
“I pre-ordered my GameCube at a Microplay retailer in Hamilton, ON, Canada. This retailer is a chain in Canada with about 82 locations. I checked the microplay website (www.microplay.com) and it seems that you will be able to get onto a waiting list so that you would be able to preorder off of it.
I, however, am not on a waiting list. I went into the store two months ago and gave them $20 and they said I would have two at launch (I was #1 and 2 on the list). I guess I was lucky, because there wasn't much interest at the time. I also didn't have to preorder a bundle and there was no price mark-up or anything (299.99 CDN). No freebies unfortunately.
So, if you live near one of these microplay locations, give them a call, maybe they'll allow you to preorder when you walk in the store. Much better than the net waiting list.”

Hey, guys. The Real Canadian Superstore has a preorder deal in which you pay
$40 to reserve a GCN, 2 controllers, and i of 3 games (Monkey Ball, Wave Race,
or Luigi). The final Canadian price for the console is $299. You also get a
rather nice t-shirt with the GCN logo on it. The downside is , they didn't
tell me how much the entire bundle would cost, nor which color I'd be getting.
Past experience tells me, though, that you should be able to choose a color
when you buy it, as long as they have multiple colors in stock. The Real
Canadian Superstore is a nationwide chain, and this deal should be available
anywhere in Canada. Hope this info helps someone.
Oh, yeah. My cat, Midnight, would like to advise Louie to learn how to use a
spellcheck.
