September 27, 2012, 5:44 am EDT

Following the recently announced price and date information, Wii U will be playable to the public for the first time at EB Games Expo 2012- October 5th- 7th at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

This year’s event is almost sold out, with over 22,000 tickets already snapped up and less than 1000 tickets still available for Saturday and Sunday daylight sessions. Fans are encouraged to grab their tickets as a priority to avoid disappointment.

Wii U, launching across Australia and New Zealand on 30th November 2012, is a HD console that offers more choice and variety of gameplay than ever before. With brand new gaming experiences enabled by the innovative Wii U GamePad controller, you can play alone or together with up to four other friends. The Wii U GamePad offers an integrated second screen and can also be used independently of the TV set with certain software. Attendees at EB Games Expo will be the first in Australia to sample Wii U ahead of its release on the 30th November.

“We are incredibly excited to be able to showcase Nintendo’s innovative new Wii U game consoles to Australian consumers at this year’s EB Games Expo” said Stephen Wilson, EB Games Managing Director.  “EB Expo will be the first time gamers in Australia get hands on with Wii U. This has only been made possible due to the efforts of the world class team at Nintendo Australia”.

Fans will get a chance to play the following Wii U titles during EB Games Expo:

New Super Mario Bros. U
Nintendo Land
ZombiU™
RAYMAN® LEGENDS
Darksiders II
Batman Arkham City Armoured Edition
Assassin’s Creed® III
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Just Dance® 4
Sing Party

In another huge coup for the Expo, Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario will be there at EB expo and consumers can get the chance to play with him.

Debra McGrath, EB Games National Brand and Events Manager is encouraging customers not to wait and to pre-purchase their tickets as a sell out is now on the cards. “With today’s epic Wii U announcement along with adding an internationally recognised gaming icon like Charles Martinet to the already amazing list of international guests appearing at the EB Expo, we now expect the event to be pre-sold out.”

Tickets for the EB GAMES EXPO 2012 are on sale now from EB Games stores or online at www.ebexpo.com.au or via Ticketek – www.ticketek.com.au.
