Level-5's first game in the series has reached a new threshold.
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino revealed today via a tweet that Professor Layton and the Curious Village has sold more than one million copies in Japan.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village is the first game in the series and was released in Japan of February 15, 2007.

Earthbound fans will get to enjoy a live performance of Eight Melodies from the comfort of their homes.
A live performance of Mother's theme, "Eight Melodies", will be streamed live from Japan to fans all over the world.
Shigesato Itoi, creator of the Mother/Earthbound series, will be streaming a special live performance of Eight Melodies by musician Masakatsu Takagi, which will include a special appearance by Keiichi Suzuki, one of the men behind the music in the Mother/Earthbound games.

Take your first look at Nintendo's latest Wii title set to launch in Japan on May 26.
Nintendo's upcoming Wii title, Pandora's Tower, is scheduled to be released in Japan on May 26 retailing for 6,800 yen. The details come from a recently released trailer for the title that reveals the game's visual style as well as in game combat.
The combat gameplay strongly resembles games such as God of War, but given the limited scope of the trailer it is hard to judge if this is a superficial comparison.

All proceeds were donated to the Red Cross as part of the Play for Japan auctions.
A Nintendo DS system signed by Shigeru Miyamoto, Satoru Iwata, and the voice of Mario, Charles Martinet, was recently auctioned for $3550. The auction was the product of a charity program, and every dime went to support the American Red Cross relief effort for Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims.

Steel Diver will be patrolling European shores on May 6.
Steel Diver will finally see a European release on May 6, 2011, Nintendo of Europe announced today. A launch game in North America, this puts the European release well over a month later.
The Nintendo UK website for Steel Diver has been updated for the announcement.
The game was scheduled for a Japanese release in March, but was delayed to a yet unspecified date.

Details have emerged as to why Square Enix's first Nintendo DS game was never localized.
Back when the Nintendo DS was first released, Square Enix announced Egg Monster Hero for a North American release, though the game never saw the light of day in the territory.
Egg Monster Hero, which was the first Nintendo DS game from Square Enix, followed the life of a lazy young king. In order to get their new king into shape, the prime minister and his teacher send him to his own little island.

The ESRB fails to recognize a Wii version of the game in a recent update.
Despite numerous Wonder Boy games having already appeared on the Wii's Virtual Console, it appears as though Monster World IV will not be heading to the service in the near future in North America.
The game, which was released for the Sega Genesis, was never released in North America, which is unfortunate considering that many people claim the game to be the best in the series.

The second Resident Evil game for the Nintendo 3DS has been pushed back to next year.
With Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D already slated for a release later this year, the publisher wants to make sure its titles have time to breathe. As a result, Capcom has announced via the official Resident Evil Facebook page that Resident Evil: Revelations will release sometime in 2012.
Capcom also released 5 new pieces of concept art for the game, though all of them have been previously revealed in magazines.

The Nintendo 3DS remains the best-selling video game platform in Japan for another week.
When the lives of many Japanese slowing returning to order, software sales are starting to increase slightly in Japan to levels previously seen prior to the recent earthquake.
With many titles planned for release this month delayed due to the natural disaster, the best-selling games in the country are all games released earlier in year.

3DS is Nintendo's fastest-selling handheld to date in Europe.
Today Nintendo announced that its 3DS system sold 303,000 units across Europe through its first two days on store shelves, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo handheld in the region to date.
Of the handhelds that were snatched up, 113,000 were sold in the UK while another 50,000 were purchased in Germany.

The PSP and PS3 came out on top in Japan last year.
Today Enterbrain, publisher of Famitsu, shared a detailed market report for fiscal 2010. It revealed that for the first time since their release, Wii and Nintendo DS were outsold by PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable, respectively.
The PlayStation Portable was the best-selling platform of 2010 in Japan, besting the Nintendo DS by over 100,000 units. The PlayStation 3 outsold the Wii by a margin of less than 10,000 consoles.
