Wii U Sizzle Reel Featured Video from Xbox 360 and PS3 Versions of Games WiiU

Reggie promises that third-party titles on Wii U will look at least as good as their counterparts on the other systems.

"Most" of the footage shown representing third-party Wii U games featured in Nintendo's press conference are apparently from Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. In an interview with Gametrailers' Jeff Keighley (at 4:33), Nintendo of America's Reggie Fils-Amie confirmed that the videos were from other consoles, and explained that it is because the system is "a year away."

3DS Finally Reaches One Million in Japan 3DS

The milestone took the 3DS nine weeks longer to reach than it took for the original DS.

The Nintendo 3DS has sold one million units in Japan thirteen weeks after its release according to the May sales report of Japanese game magazine Enterbrain.

The 3DS has been experiencing slower sales than Nintendo had hoped since it launched in Japan February 26. For reference, the original Nintendo DS sold one million units in that market in four weeks back in 2004.

Iwata Regrets Not Showing Wii U Console During Press Conference WiiU

By focusing on the new controller, Nintendo may have created confusion about their next home system.

Nintendo might have put too much emphasis on their new controller, and not enough on the new Wii U console, said company president Satoru Iwata. He expressed concern that by featuring the controller exclusively, and showing no images of the console, they may have given the false impression that the tablet-like unit was either a stand-alone portable device or a new peripheral for the Wii.

Level-5 will be involved with the new Gundam series every step of the way.

Could the Wii U be coming our way early next year?

Sega's executive vice president of marketing, Alan Pritchard, has said that the Wii U will be released next Spring/Summer. 

In an interview with Gamespot, when questioned about the possibility of Sonic Generations being released for the Wii U, he responded that it would not be possible since Generations is set for a November release, while the Wii U is coming out next Spring/Summer.

Sonic Co-Creator Yuji Naka is working on a fishing game for Wii.

Bandai Namco will be bringing a new Wii title Family Fishing to Japan later this summer and Sonic the Hedgehog Co-Creator Yuji Naka is producing it.

Hideki Konno explains the reason behind the handheld's vintage touchscreen technology.

Even though the Nintendo 3DS is a much more powerful piece of hardware than its predecessor, the system still uses the same resistive touchscreen as the original Nintendo DS.

In an interview with Joystiq, Hideki Konno, who worked as a hardware producer on the handheld, revealed the reason for the same old touchscreen technology is because of the original Nintendo DS.

Atsumete! Kirby Delayed in Japan DS

The release of the pink puff ball's latest DS adventure is pushed back in Japan.

Atsumete! Kirby for the Nintendo DS has been delayed in Japan. The the release date has been moved to August 4. 

Known as Kirby Mass Attack outside of Japan, the title was originally set to release on July 7. The Japanese version of the game made an appearance at E3 last week and members of the NWR Staff were able to play Kirby's upcoming DS adventure.

Happy 10th Anniversary, Game Boy Advance! GBA

10 years ago today, the GBA launched in the United States.

On June 11, 2001, the Game Boy Advance hit stores in North America.

The system launched with 17 games, including Super Mario Advance, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon.

Next week, Nintendo World Report will celebrate the system's release, starting with a reveal of the staff's Top 10 Game Boy Advance games.

Green Lantern Movie Trailer Available in eShop 3DS

The first 3D movie trailer is available on the 3DS.

A Green Lantern movie trailer was added to the 3DS eShop at some point today. The movie is due out in theaters on June 17.

The trailer was recently featured before 3D movies in theaters, and is now available for 3D viewing via the eShop. At nearly three minutes long, it is the longest video available in the eShop.

Square Enix is now considering bringing their highly-acclaimed Final Fantasy series to the Wii U, according to Yoshinori Kitase.

“After seeing Wii U revealed at Nintendo’s conference, we are now considering the possibilities of bringing the Final Fantasy series to the format,” Kitase remarked.

Iwata Confused by Nintendo's Drop in Stock Following Wii U Announcement WiiU

Nintendo's global president cannot understand why the company's stock has declined over the past few days.

Shares in Nintendo fell nearly 10 percent following the announcement of the Wii U on Tuesday.

The decline left some people puzzled, including Satoru Iwata. In an interview with Reuters, Mr. Iwata commented on the drop by saying:

"Honestly speaking, the reaction to (Tuesday's) presentation and what I heard from people I met and the mood of the convention did not chime at all with what happened in the stock market. It's very strange."

Australia joins the banning bandwagon for this increasingly-doomed title.

Dead or Alive Dimensions, the latest of several big-name fighting games to reach the 3DS, has been declassified in Australia and all copies pulled from shelves. The decision follows the banning of the game in several European regions, after it was decided that containing several fighters of questionable age inherently constituted the game as child pornography.
