Want To Buy The Wind Waker Soundtrack?

We've been playing it for over a week and getting lots of e-mails from interested parties. So where can you import this soundtrack? UPDATED: Now Shipping!

UPDATE: Video Game Depot has gotten enough pre-orders to warrant carrying the CD, and sent out their first shipment of soundtracks last week. There are some left in stock, so if you've been holding back, now's your chance.

I have gotten truckloads of e-mails from people who want to get their hands on the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker soundtrack that we've been playing. It was released in Japan last week, but it's nearly impossible to import. And no, you don't need a special CD player.

So I contacted our import partners Video

Game Depot and had them see if they could get some in stock. Today they've informed me they are taking pre-orders for the soundtrack, and if they get enough pre-orders for the soundtrack, they'll be able to carry them.

Very good news for people who want to import this gem!

That's great... Just wondering, do you know how many songs are on the disk?

mouse_clickerMarch 28, 2003

Videogame Depot doesn't say how many tracks are on it, but considering its two discs and considering the number of tracks of previous Zelda soundtracks, it should be around 50-60.

Anyway, I love Wind Waker's soundtrack and all, but $39 is just too pricy for me. I understand that it's an import, which are naturally more with overseas shipping, but I could by another game for $40, which I'd probably enjoy more than the soundtrack to a game I already have.

About 130 tracks total.

Or around TWICE as many as I had guessed. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Just wondering, Bloodworth, but where did you guys get the music from Wind Waker?

BloodworthDaniel Bloodworth, Staff AlumnusMarch 28, 2003

From the soundtrack...the very one we're trying to persuade VGD to sell to all of you (and me since Billy is the one with the CD).

So are you guys personal friends with VD or do you just have an advertising deal with them? Just wondering how you could get a CD that VD is technically selling yet. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Berto2KMarch 28, 2003

There is another place that is selling them which was mentioned on the forums, but VGD is their business partner for sure.

BloodworthDaniel Bloodworth, Staff AlumnusMarch 28, 2003

Billy got it through other means actually.

Are we friends or business partners? Both. I only get in-house adverstising with people I trust. I'm now friends with the owner, and that's why they're getting the CD. Get the stuff. face-icon-small-tongue.gif

What's the deal with paying the money before? If there aren't enough preorders, will there be a refund?

Felis Demens CCXXIApril 24, 2003

Yay! They're carrying it!

Quick question... Are they gonna provide a playlist translated to english, or are we gonna have to figure it out on our own?

BloodworthDaniel Bloodworth, Staff AlumnusApril 24, 2003

You'll need to figure it out yourself. The tracks basically walk through the game just as if you were playing it.

ummm, not to make VGD lose business or anything, but i got my soundtrack off ebay for $20, including shipping... that's less than half of VGD's price

of course the downside to ebay is stock... get em while they last ya'l...

BloodworthDaniel Bloodworth, Staff AlumnusApril 24, 2003

Without seeing the disc myself, I can't say for sure, but a lot of the soundtracks on EBay are Hong Kong facsimiles. I've gotten plenty of CDs that I thought were official only to be informed much later that they aren't. The real thing is published by Scitron Digital. Facsimiles will likely be published by Ever Anime.

PIACApril 24, 2003

jehehehe yeah, dont trust ebay for official stuff if thats what your after *holds up his ever anime LoZ OoT and SM Records Chrono Trigger cds*

Felis Demens CCXXIApril 28, 2003

Whee!! I just got mine in the mail.

If anyone's interested, I assembled a list of all the tracks on there (not complete, still has a few holes). I took a few creative liberties with the names of the tracks, but they hopefully tell what the tracks are.

It's kinda long, though, not sure if it's against the rules to post something too long on this forum. Could I get a go/no-go from any mods?

AlkettoryApril 29, 2003

The track names are available on CDDB. If you have a media player that uses CDDB, load the CDs and CDDB will recoginize them and assign the track names for you.
