Is the Wii U a next generation platform? Reggie Fils-Aime says it is.
Reggie Fils-Aime, Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, had a recent interview with CNNMoney about the Wii U as a next-gen platform saying “Nintendo is next generation, Wii U is next generation.”
Since the launch of the Wii U there has been some debate over whether or not it should be considered "next gen"; Reggie disagrees because of the innovation he believes the GamePad is bringing to the marketplace. When it comes to low hardware sales he says that there is “one truism about this business, software sells hardware,” and he believes the many popular franchises being brought to the Wii U will make for a strong holiday season.
Reggie also expressed interest in having N64 games to come to the Wii U virtual console.
