Black Wii U Shown During Nintendo Direct

The Nintendo Direct stream casually featured a Black Wii U.

Wii U may come in black along with the customary white.

In the background of the Nintendo Direct video was a black Wii U system, as well as a black Wii U GamePad. Up until this point, Nintendo has not shown the Wii U in any color except white.

While this does not confirm what colors will be available when the system launches, it does raise the prospect that the hardware will come in both black and white.

I don't think it should come in white at all (or at least not until much later). I think black should be established as the default color to help distinguish the system from the original Wii and to hopefully avoid market confusion. Its not like the name does much to make this distinction, so this makes it even more imperative that the system look different.

I still want a gun metal black or a brushed steel silver.

But black over white any day of the week, so hopefully they launch in both, or atleast offer Black to all Pre-ordered system.

For that matter, what happened to the clear plastic fad?

it faded away like a good fad is supposed to. Now let's hope it never comes back.

If controllers are any indications it now has LED lights to light it up.

Spice Orange or DK Banana Yellow for me. I held out for a 2nd Red Wii, blue was nice too, but man did I want yellow or orange.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD... for me.

Black is a much better color for the Wii U than white. However, a green one would be the best.

You'll have to steal a devkit then.

Pink. I've wanted pink ever since I saw that Pink GameCube all those years ago.

I'm serious.

We know

My brother had a Fuschia GBA and it was a thing of beauty.

I would definitely prefer black.

I clearly remember wii and gamecube prelaunch colors that never came to be. So don't get presumptious or anything.

That was further from launch...but yeah, we never did get that neon green Wii to go with my neon green and yellow furniture.

I really hope you're joking (about the furniture), but just incase you're not.... pictures please.

Brushed steel would be awesome for the console but the controller would look kinda tacky right?

More things need to come in blue.

TJ SpykeJune 05, 2012

Meh, I was fine with a white system. Offering more choices is never bad though.
