Rock Band adds 12 songs from The Doors, and Guitar Hero does the time warp again.

This week, the two prominent instrument-based rhythm games add a variety of songs from classic rock bands and popular cult musicals.

Rock Band, which will only feature downloadable content for Rock Band 3 from here on out, released a 12-pack of The Doors songs. Three of those songs ("Light My Fire," "Touch Me," and "Riders on the Storm"), which come with Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades, are free until November 1. The entire pack is available for 1,500 Wii Points ($15).

The Guitar Hero store adds three news songs from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, including the well-known "Time Warp." The three-song pack is available for 550 Wii Points ($5.50) as a pack, or 200 Wii Points ($2) each.

Additionally, Guitar Hero fans can download single tracks from Soundgarden's newest album Telephantasm, which was originally available as a full album pack at Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock's launch.

Talkback

The Doors never made a bad song, so they're always a welcome addition. The Rocky Horror stuff is nicely timed for Halloween, and I'm sure that "Hot Patootie" in particular is a fun track.
