The title is coming, but we don't know which platform will get it.

Ubisoft has announced that they will release a new Prince of Persia game called "The Forgotten Sands" in March of 2010. The game will return the series to the "Sands of Time" storyline.

The game is set to be released alongside the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie, although there is no indication as to whether or not the game will tie into the film. Series creator Jordan Mechner alluded to this announcement in our recent interview, stating that, "the guys at Ubisoft Montreal are working on something that I'm excited about, and that we'll see some new announcements from Ubisoft in the next few months that relate to Prince of Persia."

An Ubisoft spokesperson mentioned that whether or not this is a console or handheld game has yet to be announced.

I hope all the people that whined and moaned about the last Prince of Persia daring to actually do something new are happy now.  Instead of trying to expand upon and fix the various problems of the last PoP with a new, polished sequel...we get yet another game in the tired Sands of Time universe, a universe might I add that was conclusively finished with Two Thrones.  I'm just disgusted with Ubisoft, even as I expect they'll use the PoP movie as their excuse.

Oh, and I think we all know what platform this will be on: every platform (including DS and PSP) but Wii.  It's Ubisoft, after all.

I doubt this will come to the Wii. probably another platformer spinoff to the DS.

I hate people that bitch about something when they know NOTHING about it. All we know is the name of the game and that it will be in the Sands storyline, but there are already people complaining despite the fact that we have no details.

Unless a game is specifically announced for a Nintendo system I think NWR should refrain from reporting on it.  We all know about the third party situation on the Wii.  What possible rationality is there for assuming this game will be on the Wii aside from wishful thinking?  If it's on the Wii, and as the REAL game, not some spin-off, that would be very exceptional.

This sort of "news" is just so naively optimistic that it almost comes across as willingly misleading.  I don't think NWR is trying to mislead anyone but it's incredibly likely that you guys just put an announcement for a PS360 exclusive game up on your site.  With the Wii I think it makes the most sense to assume a game is NOT on it until proven otherwise.

It's a pseudo-movie tie-in. That means it is likely coming to everything under the sun.

Well, even if it isn't on the Wii it will probably at least be on the DS, and that would make it valid Nintendo-related news.

But yeah, I have a bad feeling this won't be on the Wii. It should (especially with M+ support), but Nintendo has gotten burned so many times by 3rd parties that if you're a Nintendo fan you kinda learn to expect to be given the shaft.

If there is a Wii version that is different from the 360/PS3 versions, here are my predictions:

Academy of Persia: Platforming
It'll demo well, I'll start anticipating it, and then I'll get the finished game and cry myself to sleep.

Prince Paving Pabbids
The Prince will wind up in a gauntlet of crazy mini-games with the absurd Pabbids, which are like little princes that look kind of like bunnies.
