It’s not a new color, but it will come with a never-before-released Pokémon Mystery Dungeon animation DVD when it goes on sale in a week!

Nintendo has announced a new DS package that will go on sale in limited numbers around the end of this week: the Nintendo DS Limited Edition Pokémon Pack. It may not be a new color, but the custom Onyx DS Lite features images of Palkia and Dialga etched into its cover. These two "legendary" Pokémon were the same ones featured on the box art of the latest mainline Pokémon releases, Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl. The set will also include a special mini-poster and a similarly themed Palkia and Dialga DS Lite carrying case.

Fleshing out the Limited Edition package is a DVD containing a never-before-released special episode of the Pokémon animated series. "Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness" is a single episode animated special based on the recent DS games of similar name. The previous Pokémon Mystery dungeon games also had their own (unrelated) animated special that aired in the U.S. in 2006.

Nintendo’s penchant for releasing new versions of their handheld console hardware is well known. However, since this latest announcement reveals only a limited edition release, Nintendo is staying mum on what the next iteration will look like for their successful handheld business.

The Nintendo DS Limited Edition Pokémon Pack will be available August 17 (this coming Sunday) for a suggested retail price of $129.99.

Is it that episode where Jessie and James enter a swimsuit contest and James has to utilize fake breasts so as to make the most of his bikini? :P

I hope Pokemon Mystery Dungeon will die a quick and painful death.
I am sad because I know that won't happen.

So the only way to get the DVD is to buy a DS?  Ouch!  It would suck if your kid wanted it.

Nintendo actually sent a copy of that dvd along with the FIRST pokemon mystery dungeon game I reviewed.  It was shown on Cartoon Network back then, and is pretty lame overall.

But still better than the game I suppose?

Actually, just to correct y'all, this SECOND Pokemon mystery Dungeon TV special has NOT aired in the US at all, to my knowledge.

I doubt any kid would want a DS just for the DVD, especially when there are many cool games to play.

Then again, kids are fueled by what's cool and popular. Either way, the parent has to buy a DS with a game anyway, so the bundle could be good in the end.

The bundle also don't cost no more than a regular DS. So... free DVD anyone?

"free" meaning "getting your DS disfigured with Pokemon logos" here...

Which is no different than disfiguring your DS with random colors and Square characters :p .

I was thinking more the kid already has a DS but wants the DVD.

Then you better hope you know someone who really wants a DS.
