Excite Truck

Nintendo demonstrated Excite Truck at its E3 2006 Media Briefing. They presented the game as the spiritual successor to Excitebike, only with trucks (obviously).

To control the game, the player holds the Wii Remote horizontally in front of them (NES style) using the action buttons on the right for brake and acceleration. The control pad activates turbo. Steering is accomplished by turning the Wii Remote left and right as if it is a steering wheel. After catching some air, the Remote can be tilted "every which way" to line up landings for turbo boosts.

Courses will feature items (weapons?) that can deform the terrain in real time. This is apparently useful for altering the landscape to your benefit or to hinder your opponents.

The release date is and rating are still pending. The developer, Monster Games, has prior experience with a number of licensed racing games that have gotten acceptable ratings. If Nintendo provides them with a little more time than the typical third party contract allows for and a little guidance they can be expected to put their best foot forward.
