The start of our top 10!
10. Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final
Hype Level: 12.04%
The only reason it isn't higher is because we're not sure when it's coming west - because let's face it, it's coming eventually. Despite the name sounding like an expansion pack, SMTIV Final is a brand new game in the same universe that will hopefully resolve some of the original's mysteries.
Hype Level: 16.42%
Final Fantasy Explorers, from what we know of the Japanese version released last year, is essentially a Monster Hunter-y Final Fantasy game. It's focused on action RPG combat, a job system, and all sorts of gear. It also will have ample amounts of Final Fantasy nostalgia packed in, as familiar friends and foes appear. In addition to single-player, prospective explorers can go online and play with three other people. If you've been longing for a Crystal Chronicles game, this might be the closest you'll get, and it’s coming out very soon in late January.
8. Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Hype Level: 16.42%
We don’t know yet if this Metroid Prime spin-off will include Samus, but it does promise to dig deeper into the story of the Galactic Federation. Federation Force will allow up to four players to work co-operatively locally or over Wi-Fi in order to complete different Galactic Federation missions. Also included is a soccer-like game known as Blast Ball which can be played with friends too. All of this keeps that Metroid Prime feel we know and love which is one reason why we are so excited. And seriously: Next Level Games hasn’t made a bad game when working with Nintendo. Just give it some time.
7. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past
Hype Level: 17.88%
In the year of the 3DS RPG, Dragon Quest's return is one of the biggest yet and the first of the remakes hits the top 10 again. Fans are hyped for the new localization and the quality of life changes that bring the late-era PlayStation title into the modern age.
6. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
Hype Level: 23.72%
Twilight Princess will soon be a Zelda game that has been physically released for Nintendo’s last three home consoles. This latest version that everyone is excited for will be HD, have Amiibo support, and surely have more enhancements we currently don’t know about. Twilight Princess is one of those Zelda games that seemed to get mixed reactions amongst fans, but it’s still very popular as our Hype Meter has proven. Even if Twilight Princess isn’t your favorite Zelda title, it may be worth revisiting in order to take advantage of the benefits that will transfer over to the new Zelda game coming to Wii U through the use of the Wolf Link & Midna Amiibo that will be bundled with some copies of Twilight Princess HD.
