E3 2008 Staff Predictions

Nintendo World Report's staff offers up their expectations and hopes for this year's E3.

I expect Nintendo will provide us with a blockbuster presentation announcing a slew of titles, some expected, some unexpected. I expect Wii Music to rear its head as Nintendo's big casual offering along with an overhauled Mario Party 9 that breaks the mold of older Mario Party titles.

As for the hardcore crowd I think Nintendo will deliver in spades. SD Card support has been long rumored and I believe with WiiWare picking up steam Nintendo will definitely mention a future fix to the storage problem. Along with the WiiWare theme, I expect Nintendo to announce their first major title for the service, a new Kirby title. I also expect Animal Crossing Wii to make an appearance, however I don't expect it to be a huge improvement over prior iterations.

I hope that Nintendo has room for a couple more big surprise announcements in the form of Pikmin 3 and Luigi's Mansion 2. I've wanted sequels to both for years now, and the teaser trailers for the Wii practically assured me Luigi's Mansion 2 would eventually come out. Captain Olimar's inclusion in Brawl has me hoping that enough visibility has been brought back to the series that it's time for a third title. Though I'd be disappointed if neither of those two receives an update, my anger would be soothed by a teaser trailer for an upcoming Zelda or Mario game.

With the recent announcement of Captain Rainbow, I hope to see Nintendo shed some light on the title as well as reveal a US release date. It would also be nice to hear some US release dates for Rhythm Tengoku Gold and Band Bros. DX, but I'm not holding my breath.
