Nintendo brought a Mario stage to life in the middle of Times Square.

This past Saturday, Nintendo held a special launch event in New York City for Super Mario 3D Land. Nintendo transformed Times Square's Military Island into a mini Mario level with Goombas, a warp pipe slide, coin blocks, and more. The event seemed to be a big success with both kids and adults celebrating Mario's new 3DS adventure.

Check out a short video of the event below.

Nintendo also took footage of the event.

I love this game. To me it's a Mario game that feels kind of like when I played Super Mario 64. I'm kinda annoyed too because I've had it only a day and I'm already on world 8, (from playing it constantly obviously), and I've had to pace myself with it. And I... AHHHH the heck with writing, I'm going to play it again! See ya!

The green tube slide is a nice touch, but I hope they had a speaker by it that played TIKU TIKU TIKU every time someone went down it.

Oh, hey!  They did!  Nice.

Unacceptable, those color blocks didn't frustratingly disappear under those kids.

Marc Franklin your now on my list that I know who you are.
