Is this the start of something new for Amiibo?

Gold and Silver variants of the Mario Amiibo, from the Super Mario line of figures, have supposedly been spotted on Nintendo’s CPSIA Certificates of Compliance website.

This portion of Nintendo’s site is set up to show that each of their toy products comply with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). The pages for the Gold and Silver Mario variants have apparently been taken down since they were first spotted.

There has currently been no official announcement about these two Amiibo from Nintendo. Stay tuned.

Oh yay...
We need more Mario Variants...

Mario already has a couple versions.

Right. Because that's what Amiibo needs, more scarcity but this time for the Mario figures.
Increasingly glad that I've totally written off Amiibo.

These would make awesome final Platinum rewards from Club Nintendo, actually...

SorenFebruary 04, 2015

And not a single one interests me.

This is a lame variant right out of Skylanders' playbook.  They don't have to pay for a new mold, and can just do a recolor of a model they plan on releasing.

Wake me when they release a Super Mario World caped Mario.

Yeah, I think doing limited editions when people can't get their hands on the regular amiibo is kind of a slap to the face.

Triforce HermitFebruary 04, 2015

Because that is what everyone wants is more Mario variants.

I hope they release like, one of the gold ones and give it to the person with the most Club Nintendo coins for the life of the service. I'd really like to buy the eShop.

It'd better be solid gold.

Horray, more bullshit that only the most staunchest, wealthiest Mario collector will want to obtain.
