Far Cry 3 Delay Paves Way for Wii U Release?

Far Cry 3 is pushed back to a late November/early December release. The Wii U is also coming out in that same window.

Far Cry 3, a first-person shooter from Ubisoft, is being delayed from its early September release to December 4 in North America and November 29 in Europe.

The game, which was thought to be a possible Wii U title, might be getting the delay to support a Wii U version, especially since the Wii U is slated to come out around the same time as the new release date.

Until we hear an official word from Ubisoft, it's all speculation, but with no other reason for the delay, it seems like it could be a likely situation.

hey a first person shooter such as this at launch could be a big boost. It would be interesting if Nintendo gave someone 30 million dollars to make it exclusive. This is one of those cases where a money hat would really really work.

Has far cry ever been a system seller?
Serious question:  Is there anyone out there who wants far cry 3 so bad they'd be willing to buy a whole new console to play the WiiU version first, or to play the "better" version of it?

I understand that more AAA games (Especially at launch) can help any system, i'm just wondering if this game is even in the 'system seller' category.

It probably wouldn't sell systems by itself, but it could contribute to someone wanting the system along with other games.

The worrisome thing is that we could realistically be looking at four first person shooters on the platform in the course of a few weeks if rumors hold true, between this, Zombi U, Call of Duty and either Battlefield or Medal of Honor from EA. That could result in them cannibalizing sales from each other and might discourage those companies from supporting the console in the future.

Why do people hate on Nintendo so much?
I'm just sayin it's not coming out of your pockets. Keep it real hatred (NFL AKA Nintendo For Life) Yall sound like some lil cry baby's

I don't believe anyone in this thread is hating on Nintendo. If you're going to offer unnecessary knee-jerk defenses, at least wait until someone says something remotely like what you're arguing against

I just watched the trailer from E3'12. Holy Fuck Balls does it look amazing. Graphics wise, other than the people, why do we need better graphics? When he jumps into the water and swims to shore, that looked like an image of a jungle.

Crysis wasn't a system seller, but it was a PC seller.

Can it really be called a rumor when you just made it up?  ;D

I wouldn't say that. PC's do well enough anyways.

Well, technically if someone says it and it’s unconfirmed, then it’s a rumor; although I jumped to the same conclusion after hearing about the release date change. My fears are somewhat in line with Neal’s. As much as I like hearing about more games (potentially) coming to Wii U, if they don’t sell well enough in the timeframe, it may hurt the consoles perception. It mays sound like a stupid problem to have, but it’s harder to purchase multiple games on top of a $300 console purchase when everything is releasing at the same. Gamers may forgo the console purchase in order to buy all the games they want that are multiplatform for their current console.
Although, two of those FPS’s are from Ubisoft, so the same company is making the profit. Multiplatform titles are going to do well either way, but more exclusive ones like ZombiU are under more pressure. Wii U is starting with virtually no user base and if it is coming out in November, that only gives a few weeks before the Christmas blowout is over. I keep getting this negative feeling that no one is going to care once this thing is eventually released. I really, REALLY hope that isn’t the scenario.

I have a lot of jokes that relate to the trailer they showed at E3.

But I'd get fired...

Funhouse?

If I felt like doing video editing I could sanitize The Last of Us trailer.

Indirectly.  Crysis has been a good benchmark for graphics and your systems l33tn3ss for a while.
