The developers of the original Bushido Blade are lending their talents to an adaptation of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Details inside.
Currently slated for an early Q1 2003 release date, Ubi Soft’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is coming to the Nintendo GameCube courtesy of Genki Co., Ltd. This third person combat/adventure game will follow the plot of the now-classic movie. Featuring four playable characters (Mu Bai, Jen, Shu Lien, and the GameCube exclusive Lo), the game will take players on a journey to seek revenge on Jade Fox. Each character will feature their own unique story, as told through five immense stages.
Genki plans to use their previous experience on the critically acclaimed Bushido Blade to help them create a realistic martial arts and sword-fighting system for this game. An emphasis on the weapons fighting and acrobatic stunts is to be expected. Various weapons will be available for combat, including the legendary Green Destiny sword seen in the movie.
With a strong story and even stronger characters backing it up, along with an established developer who knows how to do a proper weapon-based fighting game, Ubi Soft’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon may be one to look out for in early 2003.
