Yet another fighting game series hits the GBA. Too bad we can't send it back...
First I play King of Fighters, now I play this...
I honestly can't find a suitable word for it.
Now let's get this straight. Graphically, the game is sound. Not flawless, mind you, but it is solid. Aurally, the game shines. Although I'm not fond of the musical compositions, they're not bad by any means, and the sound quality is impressive for the GBA.
In terms of controls, I'm sure Virtucraft Limited did the best they could to transfer the 6 button design of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 to the 4 button design of the GBA. As such, it's a decent setup. Unfortunately, the game isn't.
What was once a decent game in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 has been turned into a poor forgotten step-child of what was once a Mortal Kombat game. Hit detection is virtually random, slowdown is rampant in the most awkward phases of the game, and the AI is absolutely horrible.
Is the devil himself whispering in your ear, causing you to stay on the fence? Then by all means, await my coming review.
