Over 200,000 copies have been sold across the pond.

No Fears For Resident Evil 4 As It Sells Over 200,000 Copies On Nintendo GameCube Across Europe!

UK STORES BACK IN STOCK FOLLOWING SELL OUT SUCCESS

[ 25 April 2005 ] Following hot on the heels of phenomenal reviews and critical acclaim, Resident Evil 4 for the Nintendo GameCube continues to crush all in its wake. The game has sold over 200,000 across Europe within a month of launch and stores across the UK will also be receiving additional stock this week following the phenomenal demand at launch.

Adding to the remarkable Resident Evil successes over the years, which have seen 25 million games sold since its original launch in 1996, the launch of Resident Evil 4 also saw increased Nintendo GameCube sales across Europe, doubling its market share. The UK launch was the best seen on Nintendo GameCube since the release of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

The limited edition Resident Evil 4 bundle also launched on the same day as the game and consists of a Platinum and Black Resident Evil 4 branded Nintendo GameCube, a platinum and black controller featuring the Resident Evil 4 logo, a copy of the game and a special bonus disc featuring making of footage of Resident Evil 4, plus game movies of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis; Resident Evil Code: Veronica, Resident Evil Zero, Resident Evil 4 and a playable demo of Metroid Prime 2: Echoes.

Heralded as the creator of the survival horror genre, Resident Evil 4 takes things a step further by not only revolutionising the series, but by re-inventing the action game genre. Taking place years after the T-virus outbreak, the storyline and gameplay structure have dramatically changed to allow more emphasis on action. Players move through the game as Special Agent Leon S. Kennedy who is on a top secret mission. His investigation into the abduction of the President's daughter has led him to a mysterious location in Europe. As Leon encounters all new unimaginable horrors, he must find out who or what is behind this new nightmare.

Good to see it doing well in Europe. Still not a smashing success like GTA or Halo, but a very good showing. Combined sales are around 1 million if I am correct.

You know, a year or so from now I could see a million in North America, I think this will turn into one of those slow-but-steady sellers that is seen in the Gamecube Market.

It could happen. Goldeneye for the N64 kinda did that. It wasnt a killer success right away, but had major staying power. 50k copies of RE4 sold last month in the US, maybe they will stay that high for the rest the year, it sure would help the chances of RE5 being an Exclusive for Revolution.

This would be why it's been PUSHED BACK A MONTH for the non collectors Australian release. Because they need to airlift more stock to the UK. I hate poms.

And all that despite it missing two gamemodes! Woohoo! Though knowing myself I won't ever fulfill the conditions for unlocking those modes, anyway.
