Jon's Switch is doomed. It's just a matter of time.

We're back together this week. Gui kicks off New Business impressions of Cave Story+, for Switch. As the tenth platform to receive a version of Cave Story, we don't have a lot to add this time. Gui also talks about Elliot Quest on Wii U, and catches up with Metroid: Samus Returns. Jon has a look at Wolfenstein II, coming next year to Switch, but he's playing it on THE MOST POWERFUL CONSOLE OF ALL TIME Xbox One X. BJ kills Nazis so good with all those gigaflops. Greg and James conclude New Business with very late-game updates on Super Mario Odyssey. Their meandering conversation concludes controls, mechanics, structure, and some very specific challenges the game presents. Light spoilers are present for those sensitive to such things.

After the break, we hit on some email. This week we: take a look at modding our systems, figure out what games will most suffer with the death of the Miiverse, and create new Nintendo Panel De Pon mashups. You can send us your game pitches via the inbox.

Coming up, on December 2, it will be time for the 8th Annual NWR Telethon. RFN will be kicking off the show at noon, with our next RetroActive: La-Mulana for WiiWare. There was a poll. Things happened. Here we are. We hope you can join us. The talkback thread for the RetroActive is now open.

This episode was edited by Guillaume Veillette. The "Men of Leisure" theme song was produced exclusively for Radio Free Nintendo by Perry Burkum. Hear more at Perry's SoundCloud. The Radio Free Nintendo logo was produced by Connor Strickland. See more of his work at his website.

This episode's ending music is Wii Shop Channel / Mii Channel from Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It was selected by Greg. All rights reserved by Nintendo Co., Ltd.

#Rigged.

I own it 100% and likely deserve everything that has been said and likely will be said in the coming weeks about myself, what happened, and my complete control over the DNC The populous standards unto which I used to energize my base.

I also plan to use my powers responsibly and use this as a way to raise awareness to both children's hospitals and getting people to play La Mulana in some way or another. And... again, I promise I'm not going to try and get outsiders in on this sort of thing in the future unless I can guarantee listener retention and participation.

Wait, when did Jon dropped his vita in the tub?

Listening to this episode was an absolute delight

okay, finally watched the episode. It is a great episode.

Some slight corrections, though.

La-Mulana does have a 3 person dev team. what I was saying is that La Mulana is a game that's about as OLD as Cave Story, but whereas Cave Story feels like this quaint little slice of a far greater game, La Mulana is through and through a complete and complex package.

I do indeed have an agenda to spread the gospel of this game from the highest mountains I can climb. I also do still think Cave Story is good, just a little on the overrated side, and not a game I feel the need to revisit a 4th, 5th, 6th time like I have with La-Mulana.

Also, sure. Maybe I am indeed emphatic about the games I love and wanting to see them get their day in the limelight. I don't know how I should feel about Greg's 'defense' of me being the evil unto which one does not open the door for, though.

Also, if you folks check the RetroActive thread, I've already made some video content for you folks!

Can we quote you on that?

It should really be interpreted as a function of my reflexive urge to crowbar Lord of the Rings quotes into conversation (in this case a reference to Elrond's account of Isildur's failure to destroy the One Ring).

If I had to recommend a recent episode that represents the typical quality of RFN, it would be this episode. Top notch. gentlemen! You continue to put more smiles on more faces.

Before I continue to heap praise on you, I must mention one disappointment. Side Loading came up in the context of porn. Yet no mention of the N-Gage and Side Talking in that context. I feel like that was a fat pitch down the middle that not only did the gang whiff on, they didn't even swing! This is in an episode that mentioned the Zodiac Tapwave of all things.

Keep singing Greg! Singing "God Save The Queen" in Gollum's voice could be a stretch goal!

Golf clap at the pic used during Jon's discussion of the NG XBO.

Wonderful discussion of Super Mario Odyssey. Really in-depth about how the game and its world function.

I think not continuing Miiverse on the Switch was a mistake. The popularity of various social networks ebbs and flows with time, so I thought Miiverse served as a useful hub/starting point for Nintendo sharing/discussion. They could have altered it in such a way to make it easier to share on other social media so it wouldn't become balkanized.

Panel de Pon smashup: Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. To stay true to the inspiration of the Capcom classic, the blocks fall down faster than you can flip them. A magician will appear on a regular interval to turn your cursor into a baby to slow you down even more. An occasional wave will come by and wash away all your progress if your cursor happens to be on the wrong row of blocks.

And... again, I promise I'm not going to try and get outsiders in on this sort of thing in the future unless I can guarantee listener retention and participation.

A mod I highly recommend for anyone who owns a new 3DS is to rip out the nubbin and put a PSP analog cap in it's place. It's still not a second stick but with that mod the 3DS c-stick becomes a much more acceptable alternative.
