We're back in our own chairs and ready for the next chapter in Radio Free Nintendo! This hefty new episode contains everything you want -- New Business, Now Playing, a discussion of recent news items, and Listener Mail. It's all tied together with the brand new, RFN-exclusive theme song "Men of Leisure" that debuted last week. (See credits below for more info!)

Jonny leads off with Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, and he even got to enjoy some online matches with our friend TYP. The host also tries a short but imminently affordable eShop puzzle game, Blok Drop U. Next up is Guillaume, who downloaded the rarely played (but thoroughly mediocre) Castlevania: Dracula X from Super Nintendo, just released on Virtual Console. He also watched the animated movie Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, last mentioned on RFN quite a while ago but now available to watch cheaply via Amazon. Lindy has a surprise -- he's been playing ZombiU! And he finally got his own copy of Shovel Knight, even discovering the game's "soul" in the process. James goes last with a final report on Persona 4 and additional thoughts on the gloriously wacky Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

Following the break, we catch up on several recent news stories, including fresh release dates for Captain Toad and Smash Bros. on Wii U, the likely reason for an early New 3DS launch in Australia and New Zealand, and system updates for both of Nintendo's platforms. Then it's time for our first batch of Listener Mail in some weeks. Topics include the GamePad's TV button, our triggers for a New 3DS upgrade, the state of Kingdom Hearts, and outrage over an excessively limited edition of Hyrule Warriors. As always, we would love to hear from you, so please keep sending those emails!

If you haven't already, be sure to visit and subscribe to the brand new NWR TV channel over on YouTube, where you'll find the complete archive of RFN 400 videos and much more to come. Also, Karl just revealed initial details and the tentative lineup for our 5th Annual NWR Live Telethon for Child's Play, so mark your calendar and start getting excited, because this event is always magical. Finally, be on the lookout for a special revival of the Powered Off digital magazine -- this bonus issue is entirely devoted to Radio Free Nintendo and is full of original content written by the podcast crew! (We'll add a link here as soon as it's available.)

This episode was edited by Jonathan Metts and James Jones -- Happy Thanksgiving, Gui! The "Men of Leisure" theme song was produced exclusively for Radio Free Nintendo by Perry Burkum. Hear more at Bluffs Custom Music.

Talkback

You really do not unlock an item frequency changer, Johnny, I'm sorry. you also can't remap buttons, only swap what buttons do what. there's only 3 difficulties of All Star and no difficulty toggle for the CPU opponents in Smash Run outside of maybe being able to play it against your Amiibos when the 3DS Amiibo platform comes out. Things like Special, Fixed Camera, Single Button, and Coin Smash are all out.

As for Smash Run itself, I still stand by the lenghy post i made in the last Famicast episode in that I really love the mode and agree that what you get out of it is proportionate to how much you put into it. Then again, I seem to be in the minority of people who really get a kick out of Smash Run.

Gui... Gui, Gui, Gui... Dracula X on the SNES is really not good. I think maybe outside of like... Haunted Castle, the Order of Shadows phone game, and Castlevania the Adventure that it's probably the most borked Classic Castlevania game, which is a real shame since Rondo of Blood gets everything from difficulty to atmosphere right

There's several points of jumps you can't make without practically hanging off a ledge, cheap enemy placement, overuse of Spear Guards, medusa heads, and bone towers, Sub-weapons completley omitted, a playable character omitted, and the whole alternate stage system nearly completley gutted out besides an alternate stage 4 and 5.

Also, it has the most infamously FUBAR Dracula fight in the entire series. Sure, there are other tougher challenges like maybe Castlevania 3's Dracula or Levle cap 1 Dracula in Order of Ecclesia, but I am convinced that the Dracula X SNES fight went untested.

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/O9FX95aFyr4/hqdefault.jpg See this? that's bottomless pits you have to fight dracula around! he's also really tall so because the pillars are of varying height, sometimes you just can't hit him unless you maybe came into the fight with an axe. you might as well not even have a health bar because the knockback WILL send you into the pit.

although at least the credits music is good from that SNES port and they did an admirable job trying to replicate the CD quality music from the PC Engine original.

... Also, I really like Castlevania for the Sharp X68000/Castlevania Chronicles. that game is tough as nails, but at least it's fair and I've beaten it without the use of save states.

Also, sorry to double post, but regarding the KH Discussion...

Mario and Luigi series has Yoko Shimomura stuff. the Final boss theme from Bowser's Inside Story especially sounds like it is ripped right out of a Kingdom Hearts game.

Right, also, the series... I managed to stick with it until Birth By Sleep because I didn't have a PSP and Three-Hundred and Fifty-Eight Half days for the DS because the L button on my DS Lite crapped out and... when the game became unplayable is when I realized I didn't give a shit any more.

Tekken is similar to Smash Bros -- it has a very solid gameplay foundation but still it's easy enough to for everyone to get in.

I would even say it's even more accessible Smash Bros. That's definitely the case with me and my friends, who just got lost when i shown them Brawl but Tekken had them button mashing and having fun no problem.

And of course wackyness that comes from fully embracing and running away with the this is a fun videogame first.

Yeah, the effort Nintendo puts into their eShop themes and themes for individual UI elements is excessive but kinda cool:

And these StreetPass puzzle dioramas, it's crazy that overwhelming majority of 3DS users will never see any of them and yet they still do them.

John, wait until you get to the School in Zombiu. Any time I go through the game, I still get nervous going into the school. Also, something you in particular will enjoy: the new characters are randomly generated and there is even a pimp you can regenerate as.
