Tecmo Rejects Square Enix Offer, Moves Towards Merger with Koei

After careful consideration from management, Tecmo has decided against the Square Enix takeover and decided instead to group with the more Eastern driven Koei.

Tecmo, in a surprise move, has rejected the friendly takeover bid from Square Enix this morning. As reported earlier, Square Enix extended the offer to Tecmo last week and gave the company until today in order to reach a decision. Tecmo "collected opinions from management and game creators as well as a wide range of employees" to arrive at their decision.

Tecmo Releases More Information On Its Holiday Lineup

Robocalypse and Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff are Tecmo's DS releases while SPRay and Rygar: The Battle for Argus are their Wii holiday releases.

Tecmo recently announced their Nintendo releases for the rest of 2008. They currently have four games on the horizon for Nintendo platforms this holiday season: Robocalypse; SPRay; Tecmo Bowl: Kickoff; and Rygar: The Battle for Argus.

Robocalypse, a real-time strategy game for the DS, is due out on October 28. Robocalypse is rated "E10+" and features a storyline written by a writer and director on SpongeBob Squarepants.

Ace Attorney withdrawal? Unsolved Crimes offers eight cases, three gaming elements, a rookie detective, a missing model, and a stylized 1970's New York.

Capcom's Ace Attorney series may be the pre-eminent example of the crime genre on the Nintendo DS, but now mystery solvers can work both sides of the law. Empire Interactive is letting players take on the role of a rookie detective in 1970's New York with Unsolved Crimes for the DS, which has wrapped development and will be in stores starting September 23.

Metallic Silver DS Lite On Sale Next Week DS

Nintendo will be promoting the new color with a print ad featuring Liv Tyler.

It's official: everything old is new again. The original Nintendo DS came in a metallic silver finish when it launched in 2004, and the DS Lite has finally caught up. Next week Nintendo's sleek portable game player will be available at retailers in a metallic silver color similar to that of its big brother.

Nintendo Revises Fiscal 2009 Projections Upwards

Nintendo's estimates are usually conservative, but the Japanese company is now a little more optimistic than before thanks to the success of the Wii and the DS.

As if they weren't expecting to sell enough already, Nintendo has now revised their fiscal and shipment estimates for the current fiscal year upwards. By the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2009, Nintendo expects to sell more videogame hardware and software, and make even more money doing so.

Square Enix Offers Friendly Take Over of Tecmo

Square Enix will be acquiring lots of stock if Tecmo's board of directors gives its consent by tomorrow.

Could legendary videogame franchises Final Fantasy and Ninja Gaiden soon be under the same roof? The answer will be clear this Thursday, which is the deadline for a response from Tecmo's board of directors to Square Enix's friendly take over proposal.

Disaster: Day of Crisis to See European Release This Fall Wii

New information about an RPG by Jaleco has come to light through a recent preview in Famitsu magazine.

Ougon no Kizuna, literally meaning "Golden Bonds," is a highly stylised action RPG with some incredible talent behind it.
