Transformers Returns To Nintendo Systems With Battlegrounds On October 23 Switch

Six years and a new studio ago.

After six years of Energon recharge, the Transformers are coming back to Nintendo systems.

Transformers: Battlegrounds, a strategy game based on the long running toy franchise, will release on Switch October 23.

Battlegrounds will be the first Transformers game since 2014's Rise of the Dark Spark for Wii U. This new one will be developed by UK studio Coatsink and published by Outright Games.

Namcot Collection To Be Localized For June 18 Western Release Switch

You ever want to play NES Pac-Man REALLY FAST?

The Darius Collection won't be the only collection of retro games coming to Switch next week.

Bandai Namco will be releasing the Namcot Collection announced in the Japanese Nintendo Direct Mini this past March as the Namco Museum Archives on June 18. It will come in two parts, as opposed to the individual purchases of the Japanese version, though some games will be Japan-only for now.

Slime-San Creator's New Game Is 3D Platformer Demon Turf Switch

It's a spiritual sequel.

The newest game from the creator of Switch eShop hit Slime-San has been revealed.

Fabrazz have announced Demon Turf, a "3D platformer with attitude", at IGN's Summer of Games festival. The as-of-yet unnamed player character looks to conquer the various "turfs" of demons on their way to defeating the Demon King.

A classic RPG with a sharp tongue will be landing on Switch next week.

The Bard's Tale: Remastered And Resnarkled, a modern version of the 1985 PC RPG, originally released on PC in 2018 and will follow on Switch next Thursday (June 18). Pricing is not yet available.

Alex Kidd Returning To Miracle World Switch

The Summer of Games is already paying off.

The first Switch announcement of IGN's E3 replacement show is another Sega throwback.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX has been announced for Switch release on the stream. Published by Merge Games, the platformer will feature an option for throwback graphics as well as the standard mix of platforming and Janken (rock-paper-scissors) gameplay. The game's Steam page is currently listing the game for Q1 2021.

The Switch outside Japan is bolstering its scrolling shooter repertoire next week.

Taito's Darius Cozmic Collection will come to North American, European, and Australian eShops next Tuesday (June 16). Originally released physical-only in Japan, no clarification has been given on a physical release outside Japan.

Konami News: ACA Sunset Riders Launching, Hyper Sports R Cancelled Switch

A pair of items related to Konami came up overnight regarding a popular re-release and a cancelled Switch project.

This week's Arcade Archives release has been confirmed as Sunset Riders, the 1991 arcade game perhaps more famously known for its 1993 Super Nintendo port. The arcade version of Sunset Riders supports up to four players simultaneously, and will launch with tomorrow's eShop update for the standard ACA pricing.

North America Receives Major Switch eShop Sale

Time to start a run on microSD cards.

One of Nintendo of America's E3 traditions continues, even without a show to apply it to.

A major summer sale has added nearly 800 games to the on sale list for the territory, with most running until June 16th. A Nintendo sale which includes the likes of Dragon Quest Builders 2, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and Super Mario Party are joined by multiple 3rd party sales.

It's an explosive adventure, dood.

The sacrifical lambs known as Prinnies will be invading the Switch this fall in a compilation of action games.

Prinny 1+2: Exploded and Reloaded is a remastered compilation of games launching on October 13. The original games, Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero and Prinny: Dawn Of Operation Panties, Dood were released on the PlayStation Portable in 2009 and 2011 respectively.

CrossCode Marks Calendar For July 9 Release Switch

The 16-bit style RPG CrossCode finally has a Switch release date.

Originally announced for Switch in a January 2019 Indie Showcase video, the console version will arrive on July 9 according to a blog post from developer Radical Fish Games. The game will be published by Deck13 outside Japan.

Normally there'd be a big honking sale this week in North America but who knows now.

Nobody usually releases games in the second week of June because unless your game gets shadowdropped on Treehouse Live or something, it used to be highly overshadowed by the late E3. (See: ARMS.) Even without the ex-show this year, the original planned week is still quite quiet: the big game our indie fans are looking out for is House Flipper, which hits Friday.

In an interview with the eShop Action Committee podcast, Jens Andersson discusses the reasoning behind the Colors Live Kickstarter and tech behind the Colors SonarPen.

The Kickstarter, which launched May 13, sees a new version of the popular Nintendo 3DS application coming to Nintendo Switch. At the time of writing, the software is over 700% funded, ensuring that the it will launch later this summer.

A new Japanese trailer for Pokémon Sword and Shield's expansion pass has given a launch date for the Isle of Armor.

The first of the two expansions will launch on June 17, and include a new Galarian form of Slowbro (a Psychic/Poison type) and special Gigantamax versions of Venusaur and Blastoise in addition to the new Kubfu and Urshifu previously. announced.

The Pokémon Sword/Shield Expansion Pass will be getting a blowout tomorrow.

A video upload is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 a.m. Eastern, 6 a.m. Pacific, and 1300 UTC which will provide details on the Isle of Armor specifically. The Isle of Armor is the first of the two parts of the expansion pass.

It's been a while since a week was this back loaded: there's more coming out Friday/Saturday than the rest of the week combined. The two big end of week heavy hitters are the two you could buy in stores if there were any open: The Outer Worlds from 2K/Private Division and Nintendo's second straight retail release in Clubhouse Games. Look for a review of the latter soon-ish.
