Our Trivia, Code-guy, DDR freak, and child pr0n star Ty Shughart is leaving Planet GameCube this Friday. So a special Trivia is in order! SUPAR PRIZE!

Friday will be a sad day ladies and gentlemen. Our resident code guy and Trivia Guru, Ty Shughart is leaving Planet GameCube. He’s finally grown into his big boy pants and is off at Klown College wooing the ladies with his smooth DDR flava. He’s decided to retire this Friday, and relinquish his duties. We wish him well in his professional DDR career, and hope he beats all of the “player 2s” out there in the future.

Doshin in English GC

According to N-sider, Kyojin No Doshin (better known as Doshin the Giant) will have an english language option. Importers get excited! The 64DD game you never got to play is coming to a Japanese GameCube this March!

ATI gets a boost from GameCube GC

ATI releases its Q1 numbers, and gets a little love from GameCube.

TORONTO, Jan 9 (Reuters) - ATI Technologies Inc. reported first-quarter results on Wednesday that hit estimates thanks to strong sales of the Nintendo GameCube which runs on the Canadian firm's graphic chips.

ATI, which sells graphic chips to computer makers, said net income in the quarter ended November 30 rose to $10.4 million, or 4 cents per share, adjusted, up from losses of $16.2 million or 7 cents a share in the year-ago quarter.

Game and Watch to Game Boy Advance GBA

Never got to play those cool Game and Watch games back in the day? All you'll need to do is swipe a card.

Core is reporting that Nintendo is planning to release Game and Watch games on the Game Boy Advance. However, instead of using a cartridge, Nintendo will be utilizing the E-Card Reader that has been made famous for the Pokémon cards. This makes perfect sense, as G&W games can easily be stored on an E-Card's limited data stripe storage capacity.

Dragon's Lair 3D Confirmed for GameCube GC

The new 3D Dragon's Lair sequel from Don Bluth and Rick Dyer will arrive on GameCube this fall via a new publisher.

Originally slated for this spring, Dragon's Lair 3D is now officially coming to GameCube (and PS2) in fall 2002. Activision's Race of Champions

Microsoft to annouce handheld game system?

At the CES today, Microsoft will reveal a "tablet" that allow among other functions, gaming.

At today's Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft plans on debuting a handheld "tablet" with a wireless network connection and a significantly large screen that while serving as a television remote control and an Internet terminal...and it will also allow game playing in conjunction with Microsoft's X-Box.

Shounen Jump reveals Fire Emblem release date

The latest Fire Emblem game's release date is revealed in Shounen Jump.

According to Shounen Jump, the new Fire Emblem game for Gameboy Advance, Fuuin no Ken, will come out on March 29th. Shounen Jump has been running a Fire Emblem manga called Hasha no Tsurugi, although how this story relates to Fuuin no Ken is unknown at this time. Better CSFB Numbers

CSFB has a new report out, and they explain the very clear mistake that they made in their last report ...

Below you'll find the latest CSFB report. Included is their explanation for the clearly WRONG "estimates" from the report we posted previously.

The data they received from NPD indeed did not include Walmart, and the report has been adjusted to reflect those sales. Sure enough, the numbers seem to pan out now.

Mario and Zelda Playable at E3? More ... GC

A bunch of GameCube news at Magic Box today, including Miyamoto saying that Mario and Zelda should be PLAYABLE at E3!

Magic Box has posted a new update, and there is a LOT of GameCube tidbits included.

Miyamoto says that he expects the GameCube to last 7-8 years. This isn't entirely unexpected, as even when Nintendo releases a new platform, they tend to continue supporting the previous console. This also doesn't preclude a new console within the typical five-year lifespan.

CSFB Console Sales Report GC

The company reveals who supposedly sold more game consoles over the bulk of the Christmas period. There's something fishy going on here...

Last month, the L.A. Times reported that Credit Suisse First Boston, found between November 11 and December 8, Sony sold 962,000 PS2s, Microsoft moved 934,000 Xboxes, and Nintendo only sold 602,000 GCNs, a number less than it had launched with. The firm cites that more PS2s were sold because Sony could meet the demand, while less Xboxes and GameCubes were because their respective companies could not.
