We haven't had one of these in a while.
The Famicom's 42nd birthday was the opportunity to drop a load of its games soundtracks onto the Nintendo Music service tonight.
A total of 26 new games were added to the service, the most since the app launched, with four games represented as import titles for North American users. The added games in the North American version that released in the territory are part of the "black box" NES era. The full games are:

In addition to the new rules laid out by Nintendo, we will now be barring all companies who make less than The Pokemon Company from launching games on Saturday.
For Switch 2 this week is the busiest since launch, with three games and one... let's call it a "game-like substance". The big one as far as I'm concerned is No Sleep for Kaname Date: From AI The Somnium Files (god, that's a mouthful), but you can also pick up Wild Hearts S - try the demo first -... Read more...

Mayhaps the BBC should have rung Greg Leahy before claiming you could play NES games in a Super Nintendo this morning.
There's obviously one thing on everyone's mind this week in the Nintendo sphere, and it's Donkey Kong Bananza - look for our review next week in gaming magazines - but what else awaits as we return to expanding Kong? Well, if you prefer your concepts a little screwier, may we suggest the Pac-Man exploration... Read more...

A more puzzle focused party for two.
A popular PC puzzle series is coming to Switch this year.
Three games in the "We Were Here" series - We Were Here, We Were Here Too, and We Were Here Together - will be available on Switch sometime this year. Whether they will come together or separately has not been announced; the original game is also free for download on Steam so it may be available that way on Switch.

The publisher of this week's big game (and their compatriots) need to realize the only things that support infinite growth are the Switch 1's release count and cancer.
It's a great week for retro compilations this week, including one featured in a Direct around the start of Nintendo's current fiscal year, with a couple of great games in one package with whomp-ass music. Coming out Friday is... Patapon 1+2 Replay!

And as expected, it's going up.
Canadians were warned to expect price "adjustments" on Switch 1 hardware/software and other services yesterday, but it appears the eShop has already lifted the curtain on the new Switch Online pricing.
Attempting to renew or purchase a Switch Online subscription via the eShop automatically reveals renewal pricing due to enabling automatic renewal, which has revealed the intended pricing for at least NSO. The prices are:

Don't blame the Go Fest walking and exhaustion, blame the fear of a leak in the News Editor's apartment.
The first week of Q3 is always a quiet one (thanks to Canada Day and to a lesser extent July 4) but this one seems especially slow. There's no Switch 2 releases this week before we go on a bit of a run, and what we have on the OG is kind of slim. There's a new Irem Collection on Wednesday, something... Read more...

Guaranteed to have better officiating than your average CONCACAF match.
The Switch 2 is scoring a brace with the first addition to the GameCube library next week.
Nintendo has dropped a trailer tonight confirming that Super Mario Strikers (2005) will take to the NSO pitch on July 3. It isn't clear if the GameCube library will have the same update cadence as with the other NSO libraries, where the update would fall the night before in North America. Regardless, the trailer is below:
