What the hell is this? Where's STUN Runner and Mortal Kombat I? I recall those two games were on the original list of titles included. Dammit those were two of the titles I was anticipating the most. Rumour has it Mortal Kombat may be included on the "Special Edition" of the new MK game but that's not coming out for the Cube IS IT?

The cover looks cool but I don't like this bait and switch bullsh!t.

SgtShiversBenAugust 03, 2004

But WHY on earth would you want the original MK??!!! Have you even played that game recently, JESUS!! It's so dang horrible it makes me want to cry...even though the TEST YOUR MIGHT!! is the greatest. Other than that, it's just horrible. The one's I'm looking forward to is Rampage, Primal Rage and the last two MKs (the best in the series). Other than that..maybe Gauntlet. But my 20 bucks is going for those games that bring me back to spending hours at arcades with my quarters on the cabinets, beating my opponents and then uppercutting them into acid and then making them say "aqua!!" ;-)

Ian SaneAugust 03, 2004

"But WHY on earth would you want the original MK??!!!"

Because we've never gotten a perfect arcade-to-home version before. And it doesn't really matter what game it is anyway. They told us it was being included and now it's not. And they didn't give a reason either. That's unacceptable. And STUN Runner is supposed to be a really great game. I've never played it but I was looking forward to trying it out after the high praise I've heard from others.

This sucks because it's a situation where the publisher is doing something I don't approve of and I don't want to reward with my buying dollars BUT it's still a product I want it's just not what it SHOULD be. So I'm stuck because I still want to buy it but I want to have a way to tell the publisher in a way that will affect them negatively that I'm pissed at them.

It's like Mega Man Anniversary Collection. I did not want to reward the severe lazyness that was shown in developing that title but the resulting product was still good enough for me to buy even though I felt it should have been much better and it's flaws were completely inexcusible.

How does one legally show their disatisfaction for a product that's good but still fails to deliver?

Spak-SpangAugust 03, 2004

This is completely BOGUS.

If I remember correctly the Arcade Collection had many more classics than this. It seems to me they pulled some of the games they were going to include in on this collection. No doubt to have enough material for another collection.

What is missing?

I remember seeing a list with:

Super Smash TV
Toob'N
Mortal Kombat 1
Plox or whatever that puzzle game was called.

Basically just a whole slew of other games. Oh well. I guess Midway get give us all the classics at once.

Ian SaneAugust 03, 2004

"Super Smash TV, Toob'N"

Toobin' and Smash TV were included with Arcade Treasures 1. Super Smash TV is just the name of Smash TV on the SNES. It is the same game with a slightly different name.

Bartman3010August 03, 2004

What about the bonus content?

DjunknownAugust 03, 2004

Want to know where MK1 went to?

Link-Get!

And bitching ensues....

Angry letters... full of poop?

So as I suspected MK1 has been moved to MK: Deception. Well that was nice considering us Cube owners don't GET DECEPTION! There's no excuse to remove MK1 from the Cube version. This is like removing an episode of the Simpsons off of a DVD set because it's on another DVD that's only available in the US and then releasing the incomplete DVD set across the world.

I know what I'll do. I'll buy this game USED. Perfectly legal and no money for Midway.

The funny thing is theres only one premium pack on the PS2 and 4 different Kollectors editions on the Xbox. Also I'm thinking that those are just stupid excuses to add pointless content and hike it up 10 dollars for a MK1 port and a new box art. Also why the hell didnt midway or ESRB let them put a "products ranging from E through M" rating like the ones on some demo discs or like how the ESRB rating for twisted metal black(feat. online disc) a "product ranging from T through M"

Infernal MonkeyAugust 03, 2004

Ahahahaha, this is one of the dumbest moves ever. Hey guys let's suddenly just chuck Mortal Kombat 1 on Deception for the hell of it. Having the three MK's on MACII was Midway's big pants excitement part of the trailer. NOT ANYMORE K. Oh well, it still has Primal Rage, Xybots and Hard Drivin'. ='D

Oh hey. They should of whacked Rampage Universal Tour on there, too. And just like the first, this won't get a PAL release on GameCube. "PS2 and Xbox only okay, we dislike money here at Midway".

Flames_of_chaosLukasz Balicki, Staff AlumnusAugust 03, 2004

I really think midway or ESRB should really change the rating since only MK2 and 3 are rated M level.

Bill AurionAugust 03, 2004

And hope that the kiddies will know that they are too young to play the "M-rated" games? Yeah, right...Stupid idea...

Infernal MonkeyAugust 03, 2004

Mortal Kombat II has people turning into furries and eating the other person! Red pixels FLY EVERYWHERE! Jax also grows VERY LARGE and STANDS on the other person! I cannot stand this horrible realistic violence! This is why my son shot himself in the face with the stapler and got a staple stuck in his nose that night! ALL MIDWAY'S FAULT!! ='D

WindrunnerAugust 04, 2004

You laugh, but it will happen. face-icon-small-tongue.gif I doubt you have any idea how many kids got "nightmares" from playing Pokemon, so sayeth their parents. Obviously deeper, underlying issues exist, but the parents CAN'T BE WRONG. face-icon-small-wink.gif

Seriouisly, I don't mind losing MKI that much... Midway just sucks some for getting rid of it. I'm lamenting the loss of STUN Runner, more. WTF are they thinking? Do they have a Midway Arcade Treasures III in the works, but only had crap games left? They have to put one or two good titles on it?

Spak-SpangAugust 04, 2004

IAN SANE: Thanks. I guess I got the two treasures confused. Oh well. Those collection discs all run the same.

Hey does anybody know if the new Ninja Turtles game has both arcade games on it or just the first? Because we have never had arcade perfect translations of those games...and the additional content in the home versions was horrible compared to the arcade. It just didn't flow as well.

YenRugAugust 04, 2004

Whilst I'm not a fan of the MK games myself, a lot of my friends were planning to get this one thanks to having the set of MK 1-3 on it. When I read the news I thought I'd drop a line to Midway:

Hi

it's been noted in recent announcements that the original Mortal Kombat has been removed (along with several other games which had much greater interest levels than those that they have been replaced with) from Midway Arcade Treasures 2. The assumption is that this has been done because it has been included as a bonus with Mortal Kombat: Deception, there is one problem with this, though. The Gamecube is not getting a version of Mortal Kombat: Deception. Are there plans to still include Mortal Kombat on the Gamecube version of Midway Arcade Treasures 2, or are fans of the series to be deprived of experiencing a decent conversion of the original arcade game?

Yours

Adam Gurney

If I get a useful reply back I'll let you know what they said.
