Zelda Collector's Disc in Australia

Australia plays catch up to the rest of the world and finally gets the bonus collector's disc.

Well, it looks as though the fabled Legend of Zelda Collector's Disc is making its way to Australia at long last. After months without an announcement, the Collector's Disc quietly popped up in Target's upcoming catalogue (18th - 24th March) as part of a GameCube bundle.

Taking up a quarter of the page on page 19 of the catalogue, the bundle comes with the following items:

  • GameCube with one controller

  • 1 Player's Choice Title (choice of Pikmin, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Luigi's Mansion, or Star Fox Adventures)

  • Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition

    Seeing that you get Legend of Zelda, Adventure of Link, Ocarina of Time AND Majora's Mask on the Collector's Edition disc, you're effectively getting a GameCube with five games for the price of the GameCube itself. Not a bad deal at all.

    No word yet as to whether the Collector's Edition disc will be sold seperately.

    Its about time Australia got this disc. Congrats mates! You should be able to find it separate I would think in places like EB. They were selling it separate for like $10 here in the states.

    * Kirby Air Ride
    * Pokémon Channel
    * 1080° Avalanche
    * Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
    * Metal Gear Solid
    * Tak & The Power of JuJu

    Soon i'll have myself a bonus disk. face-icon-small-happy.gif

    Excellent news. I'll be scraping the money together for MGS next week (curse you Sega Manx TT and PotC, eat my money!) and er, I'll be getting Pokemon Channel for sure. I take it this deal's going to last a fairly long time. I mean, 1080's in the list.. That game won't be out here for at least another two months.

    EDITUUUU: Hahaha, I just rang one of my mates about this (he missed the last super GC deal at Target) and I think he crapped himself. Not so sure with the lack of smell on telephones. Chalk down another GC owner.

    Here's the catalogue page dealy

    Infernal MonkeyMarch 16, 2004

    Well, Ninty Aussie seem to have a thing going with K-Zone. And K-Zone is sponsered by Nick. Nick Games made Tak. ONE BIG CONNECTION! =O

    Termin8AnakinMarch 16, 2004

    Well OMFG!

    I'm only planning on getting MGS right now, but I think 1080 will come soon after with a 'impulse' buy face-icon-small-tongue.gif
    And how exactly do you register the games?
    Is it like entering the code thingy on the NOA website thing to join that rewards program thingy thing thing?

    Where did you get this information? I snooped around Nintendo.com.au, but I (unsurprisingly) couldn't find anything. I'm wondering if it would apply to NZ as well, that's all... no news on Nintendo.co.nz site.

    MarioMarch 17, 2004

    Expect Nintendo Australia to make an announcement about it in the next few days. face-icon-small-wink.gif

    RABicleMarch 17, 2004

    Im slightly annoyed with this announcement actually because I had to BUY the AMERICAN version of this for $60 in singapore and shell out more money for a Freeloader. Now you guys get it for free!

    Infernal MonkeyMarch 17, 2004

    I'm wondering how the two game thing will work. Will there be a coupon or something inside the game box? I very much doubt it, as Tak's been out for a good three weeks now. ANSWERED OWN QUESTION'D. face-icon-small-cool.gif

    Uncle Rich AiAiMarch 17, 2004

    Oh, screw it. I'm getting MGS, but there isn't any other game on the list I want (maybe Mario Golf). And I REALLY want the bonus disc. face-icon-small-sad.gif face-icon-small-sad.gif face-icon-small-sad.gif

    *wishes they added Puyo Pop Fever to list*

    Awesome. Thanks, Mario! =D
    Metal Gear and Pokemon Channel, ahoy!

    One thing though, it says you need to include the BARCODE from the game packaging, too. O_o
    I don't wanna have to cut up the freakin' things!

    "One thing though, it says you need to include the BARCODE from the game packaging, too. O_o I don't wanna have to cut up the freakin' things!"

    Leave it to Nintendo of Australia to take a promotion that caused a fair amount of grief for fans in America and make it WORSE. face-icon-small-smile.gif

    On the bright side you guys at least have a better selection of valid titles to choose from. 3/4 of our titles were Mario games so if you didn't like Mario you were sh!t out of luck. And one game was a GBA title just to really limit things.

    Termin8AnakinMarch 18, 2004

    Yeah, it's a good range of games to choose from, and they even put a 3rd party game in there too!
    Tak must be an alright then, if NAL is willing to support! face-icon-small-tongue.gif

    But at least we're getting the disc.
    I'll probably buy 1080 as my second game (I'm buying MGS), but there's so much incentive to buy Mario Golf, what with the competition and the three extra cups the put in there for us Aussies.
    But I do like snowboarding in real life more than golf, so I'll prolly buy 1080.

    Uncle Rich AiAiMarch 18, 2004

    Do I have to be quick to get the bonus disc? I mean, do NAL have a limited supply, as all GC games are downunder? Like 10 of 'em?

    9. This offer is open to Australian residents only. To qualify, games must be purchased in Australia.

    Hmmmmm........I'm worried about this term & condition. I will screwed big time if my MGS: TTS copy from DVDCrave is from Europe. face-icon-small-sad.gif I'm not saying it will be, but DVDCrave do get a lot of their stock from Europe, methinks.

    Oh yeah, I'm glad MGS is on the list of games to choose from. That sure surprised me. If I do happen to get another game, it will be Mario Golf, 'cos me and my friend play golf, so it will make a fun multiplayer golf game! face-icon-small-thumbsup.gif

    EDIT: can I drop at NAL headquarters, and get the bonus disc without having to mail? I am near NAL 1-2 times a weeks, so it would be far more convenient for me. OH yeah, then I might be able to ask for some posters!

    RABicleMarch 18, 2004

    NAL's headquarters? That would just be an office with a phone in it right?
    I'm still annoyed for paying $60 for this disk, but I doubt I would've bought two games in April/May to get it either.
    I've hardly played it. Only played it at evilmanman's house.

    jddc7March 19, 2004

    Hey
    im from aus and im pretty sure that the bonus disc has been out ova here for ages.
    I remember when zelda came out there was a little sticker on the box and once Target was selling the bonus disc for around $10

    DrZoidbergJuan Schwartz, Staff WriterMarch 19, 2004

    the first bonus disc perhaps, this is a second one with Loz, AoL, OoT and MM.
