Nintendo makes the second Preview Disc official, as well as some changes to the Player's Choice Lineup.

Update: Nintendo clarified at its recent Gamers' Summit that the despite how the news release was worded, that the Mario Kart bonus disc will be packed in with Mario Kart: Double Dash, and will not be available separately at retail. Planet GameCube and Nintendo apologize for the confusion.

Earlier today, Nintendo announced that effective immediately, gamers that pre-order Mario Kart: Double Dash will receive a Preview Disc with game demos and movies. This disc is likely the same demo loaded into kiosks right now, but we're waiting for confirmation on the contents.

Secondly, as many of our eagle-eyed readers have noticed, there are new additions to Nintendo's Player's Choice lineup. What they didn't know is that the pricing for many of the other Player's Choice games have dropped to $19.99.

Metroid Prime, Animal Crossing (including memory card), and Super Mario Sunshine will all be priced at $29.99 starting September 25th. Star Fox Adventures, Pikmin, and Luigi's Mansion will drop to $19.99 on the same date. Nintendo also reminds gamers that Super Smash Bros. Melee is available at $29.99 as well.

We'll have more information on this new Preview Disc soon. Stay Tuned.

"This disc is likely the same demo loaded into kiosks right now"

I haven't gotten a chance to check it out. What demos are on it?

Fammy2000September 09, 2003

"Nintendo announced that effective immediately"

By immediately, they mean AFTER I call my favorite gaming store and am told there are no bonuses for pre-ordering. Maybe I should be patient and wait a day or two.

I guess the rumor about Mario Kart 64 being includes is likely false. (Please be true, please be true).

Well Fammy, if they putting in a preview disc with demos and cinamatics, I doubt we'll get a Mario Kart port. It'd be nice if the demos were these:

1. Metal Gear Solid:TTS
2.Pikmin 2 (Doubtful since it got pushed backed)
3. Various clips of Updated builds of games ie, Star Fox, RE 4, Sonic Heroes, Killer 7, Tales of Symphonia; but that's a stretch I guess. Oh well...

hope this comes to Australia, as if you didn't need more of a reason to pre-order Mario Kart though.
Chances are demos would be of already released games

I played a demo disc at Best Buy a few days ago that had playable demos of F-Zero GX, 1080 Avalanche, Viewtiful Joe, Soul Calibur II, and possibly one or two others. No Metal Gear or Pikmin 2 though. That could be the disc they're talking about.

As far as the Players Choice titles, Nintendo should make every effort to have more of them, and all priced at $20. They're pricing games the same as they were for N64, even though they're cheaper to produce now. As it stands, people looking to get a console with a lot of inexpensive games are going to go for a PS2 or Xbox.

It's been days. Why the hell hasn't there been any more information on the demo disc.
I asked about it at a few stores today and no one had any idea what I was talking about. For something that's supposed to be "effective immediately" it's sure taking its sweet time.

I simply hope Nintendo Europe will have the same demo disc.
Even, a demo disc packed with Mario Kart is a start.

SuperLink666September 27, 2003

Ok the PGC news kind of confused me.

Could someone clear this up for me?

Do you think Walmart or Zellers (in canada) will have this demo?

Heres what I need to know.. do I go preorder it and then when Mario Kart is out on Nov 17th I go pick mario kart up and get the demo disk with all sorts of games or do I get the demo disk when I preorder? THANKS face-icon-small-smile.gif

MolobertSeptember 27, 2003

Apparently the demo disk is packaged in with the game itself, probably in a 2-disc case. It doesn't ship to you when you preorder, which is a little dissapointing.

Bill AurionSeptember 27, 2003

That's good. This guarantees that the demo disc will be something new, and not the same demo disc out in stores face-icon-small-smile.gif

KuchakorSeptember 28, 2003

Do you have to Preorder to get the bonus disc, or does it automatically come with it?

Wow, havent been here for a long time....

davidctaylorSeptember 29, 2003

Yeh. I'm wanting to know the same thing! Why bother pre-ordering if I can go out and buy it and get the demo disc.

Got a news tip? Send it in!
