Now for that extra incentive to purchase Sonic Adventure DX - every single Sonic Game Gear game.

Are you a bit iffy about purchasing Sonic Adventure DX? Well then how about the added incentive of being able to have every single Sonic Game Gear game as well? It's no Knuckles Chaotix, but still...

During Sega's public launch in Tokyo of their B-Club broadband game-rental service, Sonic Team's Yuji Naka couldn't resist dropping a few hints about upcoming Sonic Team products. He mentioned that all of the Game Gear Sonic titles will be in Sonic Adventure DX. While he didn't actually mention all the titles (how convenient, now we can speculate), the titles that are assumed to be included are:

  • Sonic Chaos

  • Sonic

  • Sonic 2

  • Sonic Triple Trouble

  • Sonic Drift Racing

  • Off Shoots

  • Tails Adventure

He also confirmed that Sonic Team is not only working on Sonic titles, having this to say:

"Besides the E3 event, we're planning a new product announcement for the middle of April right now. You'll be surprised how much we'll be putting out starting in June."

Michael "TYP" says: I owned Triple Trouble (Sonic & Tails 2) and have played Sonic 1, 2 and Chaos (Sonic & Tails)--all four are good games. I don’t know about Off Shoots, and Drift is crap, but I’ve heard Tails Adventure is at least interesting… Also, that list is incomplete if it includes “all” Sonic Game Gear titles—we should be getting crappier versions of 3D Blast and Spinball as well Sonic Drift 2, Labyrinth (ick) and probably some other Japan-only games better off forgotten!

It's the old "one man's trash is another's treasure", some preferred the GG version of Spinball, I thought Drift 2 was actually pretty good, and so forth. This might also be the first time Americans get to officially play Tails' Skypatrol. (Not Tails' Adventure, a game that came beforehand in Japan only, you played Tails flying all the time, tossing a boomerang-like ring around... the graphics were very good for a GG game, actually, and the gameplay is at least interesting.)

But yeah, I don't think we'd see any GBA downloads unless it was only a level or two... maybe Sonic 1, I've never checked to see how big the ROM size for that was, but I do know later games were easily around 1-2 Meg, no hope of those fitting well in 256k.

Huh, now i don't feel so bad about selling my Game Gear years ago.

The gamegear titles on DX. Wow...Well I'm going to buy it now. I held off on Sonic Adventure 2 for GC because there wasnt too much to look forward to(I mean more multiplayer levels). But knowing that Game Gear titles are going to be included in the final product of DX truly gives me a reason to actually buy the new game...

And I always thought the Sonic Team was talented. I'd like to hear what they plan to put out staring in June.

They'll have to translate Tail's Adventure for the American version. face-icon-small-smile.gif

My friend has Tails' Adventure. It's already been released in America, no translation required.

If these could be squeezed on GBA, I would most definitely buy this, even though I own it on Dreamcast.

They just have to make a GBA version, it doesn't have to be the exact game it was on GG. face-icon-small-smile.gif

Oh whoops. I had read on some sonic fan-site that it was Japan Only but I guess I was wrong. face-icon-small-blush.gif

We're gonna have sto start measuring this in how many Sonic games AREN'T on the Gamecube. face-icon-small-wink.gif Seriously, with this announcement the vast majority of Sonic games have to be on the Gamecube. Which ones aren't, besides Sonic CD?

    AzuleMarch 23, 2003

Hmm...can we now guess that Sonic CD will get a major update, and be released separately? face-icon-small-happy.gif

Yeah, I thought Sonic CD would be the game included in Sonic DX. We may see that in Sonic Adventure 3 now. Who knows? Maybe that rumor about a 3D update of Sonic 3 is actually a 3D update of Sonic CD!

    I'm crying.

    Tears of joy everybody.

My God, I love Sonic Team! The thought of playing Sonic 2 via AV! The thought of playing Sonic Drift 2 on a TV!

    Heh, after this, GameCube will have;

    - Sonic (8-bit)
    - Sonic (16-bit)
    - Sonic 2 (8-bit)
    - Sonic 2 (16-bit)
    - Sonic Chaos
    - Sonic Drift 2
    - Sonic Triple Trouble
    - Sonic 3
    - Sonic & Knuckles
    - Tails' Adventure
    - Sonic Adventure
    - Sonic Adventure 2
    - Blue Sphere
    - Ristar
    - Flicky
    - Sonic 3D Blast
    - Sonic Spinball (8-Bit)
    - Sonic Spinball (16-bit)
