Nintendo may be punished for its questionable distribution practices in the past.

Reuters reports that the EU Commission plans to evaluate a statement filed in 2000 against Nintendo and seven distributing companies this upcoming Wednesday. The companies have been attacked for limiting the flow of product across European boarders during the mid-90’s in an effort to maintain inflated wholesale prices.

"A formal decision has not yet been received from the European Commission. However, we are aware that a decision is imminent," a Nintendo spokesman in London said.

The severity of the proposed fine is still unknown, but since Nintendo changed its practices once questioned in 1995, the commission is not expected to give too harsh a punishment.
