Happy New Year!

by Billy Berghammer - December 31, 2001, 12:26 pm EST

I'd sing stuff but people would throw large things at me. A little 2001 retrospective, and thoughts about 2002!

Happy New Year Everyone!

This has truly been a year to remember. PlanetN2000 transformed into its new form of Planet GameCube. Game Boy Advance and GameCube finally get released. Gamers across the globe are freakin’ out at the beauty of next generation gaming. The crazy thing is the fact that this is only the beginning!

2001 has passed, but it was a very big year for Planet GameCube. Our traffic has increased beyond any expectations I think we all had. We also learned about something called bandwidth. It costs a crapload of money. Lots of traffic means lots of bandwidth. You get the picture. If it weren’t for reader donations, the E3 and Japan Experience videos (cough buy one or six!), and our new advertisers, you wouldn’t be reading this now. We thank you for your continued support of our website!

2002 is going to be a great year for Nintendophiles. This winter and spring alone we’ll be getting to play such games as the long-awaited Eternal Darkness, Sonic on GameCube and GBA, the new NFL Blitz series, NBA Courtside, Star Fox Adventures, and more. E3 2002 promises to be a massive show. I have 4 words for you. Mario and Zelda PLAYABLE.

Obviously, E3 2002 will really hold the keys to the second half of 2002 when we should see Mario and Zelda hit store shelves. Dare I even say naughty things like Online gaming… or even Metroid: Prime playable? A whole lot of GBA-GameCube connectivity? What could Spaceworld 2002 have in store? Could we see Spice (or any other color) make it stateside (or worldwide)? Will Europe and Australia ever get a freaking launch date? Just thinking what Shiggy and the boys at “the big N” are cooking up for 2002 gives me goosebumps.

Huge, super-sized, mad props to the Staff of Planet GameCube for all of their tireless dedication and work. You guys are the glue that keeps this bucket of bolts running 24-7. I can’t wait to see you all at E3 2002. Pueblo Nuevo here we come!

We’d like to wish you all a very Happy New Year! We look forward to continue bringing you the Nintendo coverage you’ve grown to love in 2002!

Word.
