Nintendo of Japan is expected to post a profit for the fiscal year ending March 31 of 147 billion yen (about US$1.2 billion), according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, topping a forecast of 129 billion yen (about $1.1 billion). The company's sales are expected to rise about five billion yen above earlier predictions.
A NoJ spokesman told the paper, "Our profit is likely to be slightly above the initial target. Sales of Game Boy and our 64-bit game machine have been good." The spokesman would not confirm the figures quoted in the paper.
