Brew-Ha, and GBA stuff!

by Billy Berghammer - May 12, 2000, 12:26 am EDT

More E3 offerings.

We played long and hard at E3. Wow. Did I mention we met Joanna Dark? Droool. Oh, how I love thee. Forget the booth babes...she's about it. :) Pics coming later on! I am totally wiped and this is only Day 1. Hehehehe. I will kick E3's ass! The Conker party was very cool. Ken Lobb demonstrated the finer qualities of Conker. This game is absolutely hilarious! You won't believe half the stuff you hear in this game actually came from a Nintendo product! Rude and crude at it's finest.

We then headed to the Saffire party after dumping off all the free crap we nabbed. It was a very nice gathering of developers, SGAG members, family and friends. A very nice, small party. And food! Love free digs. That was only the beginning. I will say one thing...EXPECT AWESOME THINGS FROM SAFFIRE.

As far as Dolphin info, nothing is really new on that subject. They don't have Dev. Kits yet, but there are possibilities for games.

They do have two GBA development kits though. They also had a LOT of good things to say about the GBA. Dave Rushton basically said that with a few tweaks most N64 games could be ported to GBA. Nice!

We also got to demo Saffire on the GBC, and it's awesome. Parallax scrolling on the GBC? They have done it. And it looks great. Special thanks to Les Pardew and Dave Rushton of Saffire for taking a lot of time to talk to us. More on this later. :)

Dammit...talking about games again...looks like I'm staying up. To wired to sleep anyway. Here's a few thoughts on some N64 titles I previewed at E3 that I wanted to mention....

One quick retraction to what I said earlier Mickey's Speedway USA is actually a really cool game. I decided to pick up the controller and fire away, and I was totally happily surprised. No offense to Disney, but I thought the Mickey stuff would make me sick, but the racing is so good I actually forgot it was a Mickey racer. Very DKR like, and in a good way. Excellent frame rate as well.

Naboo. If you liked Rogue Squadron you'll be a happy camper. I played all three levels of the E3 demo, and was pretty impressed. The first level I played was a space battle that you flew a Naboo Starfighter in a dog fight type level. It was so nice to have Space Battles again! Thanks Factor 5! The second level I played was a level where you were piloting some ship through Naboo (I think) ala Shadows. Including Destroyers that rolled out. Very nice touch. The third was a land based battle against the enemy. I liked it, but it seemed to lack a lot of enemies. I think that will increase upon release.

Mario Tennis is going to be one hell of a Party Game. This game is a must have game for single and multiplayer. Waluigi is da' biz! There was a point in the show today where the members of Rarenet and Tendo Box had all four screens locked up. They were going nuts! And a quick score announcement...Rarenet beat Tendo Box 3-0. Hehehe. I will be playing this title a lot tomorrow. Fast and furious is what 4 player is all about. The instant replays are awesome! Camelot is to be commended on another fantastic title.

That's it...bed...sleep...nite. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
