The closest we'll get to having F-Zero bundled with a system.

Nintendo has announced a new Wii U bundle that will start rolling into stores in the United States today.

The bundle retains the standard $299.99 MSRP but includes a preinstalled copy of Mario Kart 8 and a download code for the two packs of DLC. Whether or not this will completely replace the existing Nintendo Land and Super Mario 3D World bundle is to be determined.

UPDATE: Nintendo of America's Twitter has announced that the bundle will also include Nintendo Land.

All these bundles but it's just rotating the game that's included so it isn't like there is any improved value to this over the Super Mario 3D World one.  Changing the pack-in game isn't going to suddenly convince me to make a purchase.  Frankly I would prefer a lower price without the game and then I can use the savings to pick whatever game I want.

Switching the bundle around at this point doesn't suggest a price cut coming any time soon.  Bummer.

Wasn't there was a Mario Kart 8 bundle back when that game first came out?

Yes, it included a Wii U, copy of the game, Wii Wheel and Wii Remote. This bundle though has the Wii U, Mario Kart 8, both sets of DLC for the game, and Nintendo Land. The Wii U is well worth the current cost, and has a good library of games. Not saying you want it as your only system, but it's well worth picking up.

"Wii U needs a price cut" is the new "Where's Zero Mission?".

Just grabbed a used Wii U for $80.
My original console, bought new over two years ago for $200, is still going strong.

Consoles aren't that hard to find for good prices if you keep your eyes open. Anyone complaining that they want a Wii U but feel the pricing is too high don't really want a Wii U - they just want to complain.

(Yes, a price cut would help sell to many casual gamers who might be mildly interested in playing the newest Mario games. Nobody with a registered account here and an avatar counts as a casual gamer.)

Well realistically I don't want a Wii U.  I want Pikmin 3, Super Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X.  I couldn't give a shit about the rest of it.  There are other games I'm sure I would enjoy but I'm not so interested that I really care about missing out on them.

Wish I waited for this deal.  I bought the Mario 3D World bundle last Christmas and other than beating the good game that is 3D World I've hardly touched my Wii U since outside of playing Gamefly games a little bit for a couple days.  Mario Kart 8 was pretty fun but I refuse to pay for DLC so this would have solved that issue.
