We hope this makes up for a lack of TVii.

Wii U owners in the UK now have access to the BBC's radio and television streaming service.

The BBC iPlayer was originally slated to come to the Wii U at launch, but was held up for reasons unknown before finally being added in today's eShop update for the UK. The service was available on the Wii until service was terminated in February of this year.

BBC iPlayer offers content from BBC Radio to anyone who can download the app, while accessing video is restricted to payers of the BBC's television license and UK IPs. As is BBC policy, all content on the service is presented free of advertisements.

As far as I can tell there is no touch screen support whatsoever, although that's something Nintendo is guilty of as of late so it's excusable.

The TVii app is pretty much useless. I used it 3 or 4 times when I first got the Wii U and haven't touched it since. Honestly they should just get rid of it or at least give you the option of removing it from your main screen.

No way to get a VPN running on my WiiU so I won't be able to access it in Japan anyways....  :-\
