Talkback

I'm not expecting much.

nickmitchJanuary 13, 2015

Star Fox trailer?

nickmitchJanuary 13, 2015

More Smash DLC?

tendoboy1984January 13, 2015

Not expecting much?

Mario Maker release date
Yoshi's Wooly World release date
Majora's Mask release date
Codename STEAM release date
Splatoon release date
More Zelda Wii U info
New 3DS North American release info
F-Zero announcement? (Nintendo Australia's tweet has a picture of the F-Zero kart in Mario Kart 8)
Metroid Prime HD and Metroid 3DS announcements?

tendoboy1984January 13, 2015

Give me Mario Maker. I'm expecting a February or March release date.

pokepal148Spencer Johnson, Contributing WriterJanuary 13, 2015

New 3DS will probably be there, it looks like marketing for MH4U has started so maybe we'll get a release date for that.

SorenJanuary 13, 2015

No Metroid. No F-Zero.

No Metroid. No F-Zero.

Mario only, Please understand.

It'll just be the two most irritating things in the lineup: Majora's Mask 3D and Amiibo.

azekeJanuary 13, 2015

Date correlates with some of the "leaks" i've seen on 4chan yesterday.

Of course it's most likely bullshit and 14th of January is not that hard to guess -- we were due for a Direct...

SorenJanuary 13, 2015

Major LOLs at that leak. Yeah sure, Intelligent Systems is shipping two games in close proximity to each other and one of them is a Metroid game that will only show early gameplay on this direct yet will still ship "Early 2015.

Pushmo and Fire Emblem 3DS, radically different games, were released within six months.

Looking at their releases, IS usually ships two games a year -- one in Spring and one in Fall. S.T.E.A.M. takes Spring which leaves Fall slot open.

SMTxFE is developed by Atlus so it's not what IS's second team is doing.

The "leaker" corrected that later saying he meant 2016 and typed 2015 by accident. Take that as you will. Reading through the possible leak, it sounds like the direct could be an hour or more. Just seems like way too much stuff and games to cover. I'm also not sure that Nintendo would bury or wait until the end to start going over the New 3DS. That sounds like something you'd want to start out close to the front with on a Direct.

azekeJanuary 13, 2015

We're probably giving it more attention than it deserves, given it's a 4chan leak after all.

the asylumJanuary 13, 2015

Please, no more talk of new f zero. my poor heart can't take another breaking

I'm fully prepared to put down a preorder for a New 3DS immediately if they announce a date in this.

azekeJanuary 13, 2015

And while we're at it here is another fake looking leak

Day one for Jeanne game on n3DS, if true

@jasonschreier: Nintendo Direct at 9am Wednesday, then they've got a media event in San Francisco right afterwards... this one's gonna be good

Last time Nintendo did simultaneous media event and Direct they revealed sequel to Link To the Past...

A preorder sounds necessary. Apparently NoA intends to release a limited supply initially in North America.
Because, you know, why not?

SorenJanuary 13, 2015

I'm sure they're already sold out.

I'm sure they're already sold out.

I doubt that, unless they're exteremely, extremely limited. It's not actually a new system, and doesn't have a release date. Are there really enough people as crazy as I am to make that a huge issue already?

EDIT: Looking around, it doesn't even seem like any major site has it listed to be even possible to preorder.

I'm joking. But we're getting to that point. Amiibo has shown Nintendo can hype up something to the heavens and then make it impossible to acquire.

How much of the discussion and desire around Amiibo is regarding availability, instead of functionality?
For NoA there is no bad press. If they don't provide enough supply to meet demand, that will be news and make it look like one of their products is highly in demand. The only people who lose are consumers who can't buy one conveniently.

Triforce HermitJanuary 13, 2015

They aren't true Nintendo fans then :smug:

I expect N3DS to be the highlight. Some info on the Star Fox. Learn what the fate of Amiibo is.

Ian SaneJanuary 13, 2015

New 3DS seems like the obvious topic.  We'll probably get the release date and confirmation of the launch lineup.  That alone would fill up a presentation pretty easily.

Mop it upJanuary 13, 2015

I think it'll just be more info on stuff we know is coming, but there may be a surprise or two.

Evan_BJanuary 14, 2015

Always keep those expectations low, folks. That way you can always be surprised.
