You can't hide this awesomeness.

Details of Mega Slowbro and Mega Audino were erroneously posted on the official Korean Pokémon website, but have since been taken down.

Tucked firmly in a shell on the left is Mega Slowbro, which has the Shell Armor ability. Mega Audino, the Normal/Fairy-type on the right, has the Healer ability.

In planned Mega Pokémon news, check out how you can get a free, Mega Stone-holding Shiny Beldum when Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire releases on November 21.

Mega Slowbro definitely has that look on his face like he finally realises what sort of shit he's gotten himself into.

Honestly, I find mega evolutions in general to be a bit too much.

Triforce HermitAugust 12, 2014

Did we need a mega Audino? Couldn't we have given it an evolution instead?

OblivionAugust 12, 2014

I think Mega Evolutions are awesome for the metagame.

Not until the next generation and it apparently needed help right friggin' now.

Mega Evolutions feel to me cliche now.  Like Pokemon in and of themselves where no longer good enough.  To win you'll need something that can Mega-Evolve.

Nah.  Most mega evolutions suck, since it gets rid of the item slot some pokemon need.

Check out Smogon. Most Megas are in the "NU" or "UU" category, which basically means they aren't that great.

No, smogon's tiers are based on usage on their simulator (and what they haven't banned from said simulator.)

Certain Pokemon, especially in NU, are still viable threats when used correctly.

Either way, we're referring to the guys who banned Aegislash. IDK how credible they are in judging how strong something is.

Well no shit, that's what "neverused" and "underused" means. But you can't deny that it is a good indicator of how good something is. If it wasn't amazing, no one would use it.

I do have to agree though that some of the shit they've been banning this Gen has pissed me off. I just got back into the metagame last night and I couldn't believe what moves and items are completely banned, and what Pokemon have been sent to the Uber hellhole.

It's Yu-Gi-Oh all over again.

Dang it, accidentally hit the 'post' button.

The issue with a usage based tier system can be described with one Pokemon: Lapras.

Lapras in generation 6 received a fair number of buffs in the generation shift. Most notably the addition of a little egg move called Freeze Dry which is a 70bp ice type move with a tiny quirk of being able to hit water types. Now Freeze Dry was given to a fair number of Pokemon but Lapras is probably the most notable one due to it's water typing, basically giving it a pair of stab attacks that can hit everything in the game for at least neutral damage except Jynx* and Shedinja.

*using it's dry skin ability

Thankfully our good friend Aurorus is also kind enough to pass on Ancient Power to a young Lapras (it's like Aurorus instantly realized how horribe it's typing was and decided to just pass on it's few good qualities to Lapras, it's sort of like that French play, err... cyrano de bergerac)

Now plop on an Assault Vest(I've seen people argue that assault vest on lapras is a bad idea because lapras 'isn't a sweeper' but lets be honest, when you have no means of recovery besides rest or getting hit by a water move, and your best supporting moves is SING I don't think we're missing out on much.) and you've got a whole new ballgame. And boy can it do some damage.

Even if Lapras is essentially Rotom-W with slightly worse stats besides HP and worse typing the niche of having freeze dry and hydro pump (I prefer Surf personally, don't like having that chance to miss) means that even if it's a one trick pony in terms of what it can do that it isn't outclassed in, that is one really impressive trick.

Also I feel like Smogon, with these bans, is starting to reach the point where they ban something that happened to be among the only reliable counters to something else... like maybe this pokemon wouldn't be so threatening if you hadn't banned that one.

IDK, I think smogon is starting to become a bit of a hive mind mentality and I feel that they've begun to lose themselves in the surge of popularity they now have.

CericAugust 14, 2014

Alright someone break down what stab actually means.  Shaymin also uses that term a lot.

OblivionAugust 14, 2014

STAB = Same Type Attack Bonus

Basically, if you use a move that is the same type of the Pokemon using it, the attacks power is boosted. I can't remember by how much. I think x1.5?

Correct, 1.5x.

If slowpoke and friends weren't derpy enough....
