Nintendo's NPD Results for June 2014 Announced

Mario Kart, Tomodachi Life sell well in the month of June.

Mario Kart 8 and Tomodachi Life both ranked in the top 10 this month on the NPD charts.

Tomodachi Life ranked at number 9, while Mario Kart 8 ranked highest at number 2. Call of Duty: Ghosts, which came out for the Wii U last November, continues its success at at number 8.

In their press release, Nintendo said that for June, Mario Kart 8 was the highest selling physical SKU of the month. Overall sales, including digital for the month of June reached 470,000 units, bringing the overall total to 885,000 units. Tomodachi Life, meanwhile, sold 175,000 digital and physical units over the month.

Wii U hardware and software is up 233 and 373 percent from June 2013 respectively while 3DS hardware sales are up 55 percent from last year.

Good to see Wii U sales picking up. The 3DS is a behemoth, as per usual.

So Nintendo releases the only hit the Wii U's going to have until Smash Bros....in a month when Sony had pretty much nothing releasing on the PS4...and the best the Wii U can do is still just 3rd place. Yeah...that's promising.
