So if it’s a Dynasty Warriors game it takes place in historical China, right?
Now that we know the release date for Hyrule Warriors, September 26, there is only one date surrounding this title that remains a mystery; its place on the Legend of Zelda Timeline.
Rather than viewing Hyrule Warriors as canon and having a place on the timeline, series Producer Eiji Aonuma sees this game as a “separate dimension.” He likens it to the role the Avengers stories play in the lives of the characters in the Marvel universe -- a joining together of characters that each have their own personal timeline. Aonuma acknowledged that there could be a spot in the timeline but he would prefer to leave it out.
“The universe of Hyrule Warriors really is sort of a different universe and it is connected to the timeline of the Zelda series, but it is connected to several different games throughout the series”, said Aonuma. We really don't want to put it in the timeline because it has links to the different parts of the timeline.”
These comments place Hyrule Warriors in a group with the three Philips CD-i Zelda Titles and Link’s Crossbow Training as the only titles related to the series to not have a place on the official timeline.
