Nintendo reveals new turn-based strategy game for the portable.

Nintendo revealed a new 3DS game entitled Code Name: STEAM at a developer roundtable today. It is a turn-based strategy game with "action elements" being developed by Intelligent Systems, of Advance Wars and Fire Emblem fame.

The game is set in London, England and has a "steampunk" theme with art and character designs to match, with a look inspired by American comic books. The earth has been attacked by aliens, and Abraham Lincoln has created a task force to fight against them.

In terms of gameplay, in addition to the turn-based sections there are action sequences inspired by third-person shooters. They play out on the touch screen, with the player aiming their gun using the stylus. There are four players in your squad, but the E3 demo only has two squad members as playable characters.

More information as it breaks.

Looks frantically for anything involving Valve/Steamworks

leaves disappointed never bothering to actually read what this was about.

So it's basically Independence Day, except in steampunk and Abe Lincoln as president instead of Bill Pullman.

London, England?!

I'M IN.

Wow.  I actually called this being the secret 3DS game for predictions on a friend's podcast.  Even more bizarre I predict a new R.O.B. game as a joke every year, and now he appears in Project Shield.

Interesting. For some reason after Zelda's reveal yesterday, I was thinking about different art styles and games and what a steampunk Zelda could be like but figured it would never get made since the series tries to stay more medieval yet it got me thinking of Nintendo making a steampunk kind of game. While this isn't quite what I was thinking of, I find the coincidence rather serendipitous and am glad to see another new IP for the "Why doesn't Nintendo make new IPs?" crowd to dismiss as not the type of IP they were looking for.

I haven't seen a single thing for this game but I'm already hyped about it.

A Steampunk Valkyria Chronicles! My dreams have come true! Now if only it wasn't a 3DS game...

SOLD.

Valkyria Chronicles + The Conduit?

I'm getting a debit card reader installed in this laptop.

What I want to know is, is this Abraham Lincoln from outer space? Because if not, I'm not interested at all.

Or at least, is he a clone attending high school with famous guys and ladies?
