The Aura Pokémon will be even more potent this time, says Sakurai.

Lucario is the latest veteran fighter to be confirmed as a returning character in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U.

The Fighting/Steel Pokémon, who falls at #448 in the National Pokédex, made his series debut in Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii, in which he was known for his signature Aura ability that increased his attack power as he sustained more damage.

According to a Miiverse post by series director Masahiro Sakurai, the influence of Aura has been boosted, making Lucario a particularly strong character when his damage percentage is high.

Lucario becomes the 22nd character in the new Super Smash Bros. roster, joining up with numerous veterans in addition to newcomers Rosalina, Mega Man, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer.

Hm. That's interesting but I can't think of anyone that news would really appeal to......

ShyGuyJanuary 31, 2014

..Didn't there used to be someone who was really into a cerain Pokemon? Tendoboy and Meowth maybe?

UncleBobRichard Cook, Guest ContributorJanuary 31, 2014

Lucario is like a reject MewTwo.  Can't we just have him instead?

Maybe Pokepal148? He's clearly a pal of the pokemon. Actually come to think of it, there might have been a Lucario girl who would have found this great news but she got banned. As of right now, I don't think there is anyone who is a fan of Lucario posting here.

Caterkiller? I think that's who you are thinking of.

or was it Killerkirby...?

Huh, interesting. This probably makes it more likely that Mewtwo won't be coming back, especially if they plan to add any new Pokémon characters.

Not that I personally care, I never liked either character.

Lucario was fun to play as occasionally, so I'm not disappointed by this news.

Sounds like Mega Evolutions CONFIRMED FOR BRAWLSEQUEL.

Free XY generation suggestion: Playable Malamar, who launches regular attacks on B and specials on A.

Mewtwo will be back since he's relevant again thanks to X/Y.  He was pretty much the poster child for the new Mega evolutions and had a movie where he returned just to show it off.  Add to the fact he's been heavily request to return by fans as well, he's pretty much guaranteed to return since he's got everything going for him.

It speaks volumes that I forgot that Lucario was even in Brawl.

It was Shaymin.  He was really in to Shaymin.  Not sure what about this would make you think of him though.

Lucario still has the whole higher % thing going for him.

Still I do expect to see the pokemon trainer return with some sort of revamp.

MagicCow64February 02, 2014

Based on this thread I'm guessing that he-who-shall-not-be-named was some kind of deep-cover meta troll, leaving us all in the lurch at the critical moment.

KDR_11kFebruary 02, 2014

Huh, I didn't even know that was in Brawl. Guess giving up on Subspace Emissary after a few levels locked me out of most of the game.

Dude, he was also unlockable by playing 100 vs matches or by beating Break the Target on every difficulty.  Hell the Break the Target option can be done in less then 10 minutes.  The Subspace Emissary didn't lock you out of anything since every character had other non-Adventure mode ways to unlock them.

Hooray! And like Luigi Dude said, you can just about guarantee Mewtwo making it in as well! I love all the salty Smash fans who just knew Toon Link and Lucario would not make it, hahaha! Almost everyone from Brawl is getting back, mark my words! It's only Snake who I don't see as a lock.

As for this Lucario enthusiast, I remember such a person… He/she would always PM me with a new avatar change asking me if it was better or worse than the old one. At least I think this person did that. Maybe it was just a dream?
