The offline co-op is not hidden in a dark corner, it is simply not there.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist on the Wii U will not have offline co-op.

Producer Liu Jun, of Ubisoft Shanghai, said in an interview with Nintendo Life that "In order to ship at the same time as the other consoles, we unfortunately weren’t able to delve into this feature." He does think that "Nintendo gamers will be really excited to get the game at the same time as other consoles."

Co-Op missions will still be playable online. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist releases on August 20 in North America, 23 in Europe.

Is this becoming a trend? The Wii U getting the gimped up remains of multiplatform titles because the developers can't be bothered with it?

*sigh*

It's going to be a rough six years.

I guess on the plus side, it's the opposite of the usual.
atleast we got the online option included....

and on second thought, maybe 3rd parties will start having Wii U stretch goals.
Sell 150k copies and we will include multi-player.
Sell 500k copies and we will release all the DLC that the other versions got.
Sell 1M copies and we promise you a full fledged sequel.

It's a vicious cycle. Developers/publishers aren't going to fully support the Wii U because the userbase isn't big enough and doesn't buy enough games. Gamers then won't buy the developers'/publishers' games on Wii U because they're obviously just inferior versions.

It's all quite understandable. Ubisoft DID say that Wii U sales only took up %3 of its game sales last quarter. That's pathetic. I love Nintendo, but if I were a third-party I'd never release for the Wii U unless Nintendo paid me an absorbent amount of money.
