Maybe she can get Mario to drop some pounds?

During Nintendo's E3 software showcase, Sakurai confirmed that the female trainer from Wii Fit U will be playable in the new upcoming Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS.

Other characters confirmed today for the game include Mega Man and Villager from Animal Crossing.

They should have made the Wii Balance Board character from the first Wii Fit playable.

AdrockJune 11, 2013

I can't believe Sakurai found a way for Wii Fit to be represented in Smash Bros. Brilliant.

reginJune 11, 2013

Well, it's the least disappointing newcomer so far...

funguy11June 11, 2013

What's next, a block from "Tetris"?

steveyJune 11, 2013

They're trolling right?

She's just an assist trophy right?

edit2: Damn, Offical video

OblivionJune 11, 2013

That's actually pretty hilarious.

CaterkillerMatthew Osborne, Contributing WriterJune 11, 2013

No, that just can't be... Can it?

Edit:
Well it is real. How about that? Looking forward to Ridley!

AdrockJune 11, 2013

All of her moves will be Yoga poses. Obvs.

OblivionJune 11, 2013

I sure as hell can't wait for the hentai of THIS character!

I'm kidding. not really

AdrockJune 11, 2013

Can't wait? Rule 34, Oblivion. I don't even want to know...

OblivionJune 11, 2013

You know, I'm curious. Off to Google!

EDIT: Nope, couldn't fine even a single picture! :P

I love that Sakurai subscribes to the "Why the hell not?" school of game design.

This is the kind of goofy thinking that got us the Daytona car in Fighting Vipers. I love it!

100% approve.

My roster will now prob look like:

1. Pikachu
2. Wii Fit Trainer
3. Peach
4. Animal Crossing Villager
5. Star Fox

If they're going to throw in everyone and the kitchen sink then Kat & Ana, Ashley, Rosaline, Malon, Roll, FE's Roy, MMZ's Zero and Ciel all better be playable.

CaterkillerMatthew Osborne, Contributing WriterJune 11, 2013

I hope Sakurai details more features while he is there. I just assumed after the ND that would be it for months. Guess to yay!

AdrockJune 11, 2013

Wii U Fit Female Trainer should have a special option to control her using the Balance Board.

Somehow.

Pixelated PixiesJune 11, 2013

Well played sir, well played.

What next? The Cat from the News Channel?

You Joke but I would not put that past him.

AdrockJune 11, 2013

It wasn't a joke. That should be in the game.

Mop it upJune 11, 2013

Well, you'll just have to hook up your Balance Board when the game comes out and find out.

This shouldn't be seen as such an oddball choice after you consider what a massive success Wii Fit was, and how important a franchise it now is. Just like with the Animal Crossing Villager, they're clearly making sure to represent all their big name franchises with playable fighters (I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see Dr. Kawashima from Brain Age either at this point.) I am a little surprised by the actual choice of representative-- I would have assumed they would have gone with the Wii Balance Board character, but she/he/it does appear alongside her in the video so will likely still be used somehow in her move set.

This is terrible. This is terrible.

This is awesome.

BlackNMild2k1June 11, 2013

OMG!! That is the most hilarious & yet awesome thing I've seen all day.

That move set. how they integrated that right in without changing anything about the character.

Nintendo...

I don't think I will use her in the game, but I do find it funny how well Nintendo managed to make her fit in.

Those Tetrominoes are more popular than you think.
