Mint green is apparently all the rage for devices nowadays.

Two new Nintendo 3DS XL units, Mint and White and a special Tomodachi Collection bundle, are set to be released in Japan on April 18.

The Mint and White unit will retail for 18,900 yen and features a mint green exterior shell with a white interior.

The Tomodachi Collection bundle retails for 22,800 yen and comes with a digital copy of Tomodachi Collection: Shin Seikatsu. The limited edition 3DS XL unit that has a solid white interior and a white exterior with mint green speech bubble designs.

With the release of Mint and White on April 18, there will be a total of seven color variations of the 3DS XL in Japan. The Tomodachi Collection bundle is one of many limited edition 3DS XL units in Japan. A few of the limited edition 3DS XL units include units for Animal Crossing: New Leaf, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Robot Taisen UX.

One day... They'll be a nice looking Special Edition I can Obtain...

I actually like this special edition. Kind of looks like a Yoshi egg.

I knew I would never be satisfied with the blue XL, but I will wait at least 2 more years before upgrading to hopefully some odd bright color.

That's what I thought until I read that they're speech bubbles.  So really the obvious future design from Nintendo should be an outright Yoshi egg design.  After seeing this it just seems like a natural fit.

I could see Yoshi eggs being a thing if/when a Yoshi game comes out on the 3DS.

Personally, in terms of waiting to upgrade my 3DS (I have a launch unit, Aqua Blue), I'm waiting to see if they have a smaller redesigned version. I don't mind the XL, but it just seems a bit too big for my taste. I love how the buttons feel on it, though.

Well now the only thing to do is get people talking about a Yoshi's Egg version enough to make Nintendo notice. I figure if the 3 of us thought Yoshi so quickly everyone else will too.

Haha! Inside-Games, a good source for a lot of Japanese news stories on the site, sourced this article and were referencing your guys' talk about how a similar design with Yoshi eggs would be rad. Right on!

And so it begins...

I also thought it was a Yoshi egg before I read the article.

I guess the 3DS is doomed to always have ugly colours...

But it's like a mint ice cream bar. Throw some chocolate chips in there and we have a very delicious 3DS!
